Xmas is lost on D. Waiters is clearly out playing Brandon right now. Evey game we seam to start out slow and bring in CJ and Dion off the bench and roll. Bring in Brandon off the bench it might just light a fire under his a$$.

Nah..dont rock the boat. I dont care who starts. Its all about who finishes Jim!

Yes, because if it ain't broke, let's go ahead & fix it!:bat:

Yeah have to agree with not changing things...Dion is playing lights out off the bench and we seem to be able to find a second hot hand for every tough game. This team has great chemistry and so far a great job by the staff; can't help but think the addition of Red and the elevation of Gmac have helped in this area.

Triche is better as a third scoring option for a tough bucket like CJ and the occasional Southerland like breakout. A occasional isolation breakdown of his defender. Hes just not the isolation guy that Dion or Scoop are YET.

Dion is a isolation leader. Like Joseph.
Scoop is getting there as a isolation leader.
He still has his foggy moments, but he will be there as long as he never puts his gears in cruise control and doesn't try to get the highlight of the year. He did overthrow Melo and miss Joseph on a cut and dish in the second half.

Depends what you need that night really. Dion broke down NC state. Not only on the perimeter, but better in the paint then Jonny Flynn could of tonight.

Agree 100%. Why tamper with a successful formula?

If it ain't broke...

Agree winning in the end is most important, but ...
getting your offense flowing matters. The offense was great today in the first half.
We have enough heads to do so.

Instead of saying just keep doing what were doing, the goal should be to get better, anticipate matchups, and shoot well for as much of the game as we can.

Keita and Melo deserve their own defensive thread today as well.

Another goal should be to not make reactionary moves or to get away from our normal substitution pattern.

People are so concerned about who starts. It's who finishes that counts. And JB having the luxury to bring scoring threats like Waiters and CJ and Southerland off of the bench is a great "problem" to have--one that very few other college teams [if any] can match.

I doubt that there is anyone in our top nine complaining about the distribution of minutes [besides XMas, who obviously didn't play much today]. It is a non-factor, regardless of what fans think.

Disagree, and for much bigger reasons than just the "if it ain't broke don't fix it." First of all, Triche is fine. I think taking him out led to our lead completely evaporating in the second half. He was taken out for letting Wood hit the 3, but in hindsight, not only was he playing better defense on that shot than the rest of the team over that span, but he was also the only one who took the ball inside.

As far as Rak goes, seeing as how the vast majority of people around here want to act like it was a complete injustice that one of our 7(!) players got hurt two years ago, thus SWIPING the title from our grasp, there should not be a soul out there worrying about Rak's token minutes. We are seriously screwed if Fab ends up with an AO-like injury, DO NOT give him the Dash treatment and then bash him for his play.

Why mess with success? Is it because Triche had an off/quiet game? He didn't even play "bad". Only 17 mins but still led the team with 4 assts with only 1 turnover. also led with 2 steals. but he was 0-3 shooting. so everyone screaming for triche and dion to start is now scoop and dion because triche was 0-3 and scoop played great? every game will be different. don't mess with success.

Not sure if this is true, but heard today that Triche injured his thumb [or hand] in practice yesterday. Might have impacted his play tonight.

No need for any changes at this point. The token minutes should help Rak going forward, we gave BT the same treatment early in his career and I doubt he's worse off for it.

Otherwise, we've seen each of the guards play well in spurts and each of them have been cold. What's to say if you start Dion it's going to solve everything and who do you pull? How does that impact the chemistry? Until it becomes a big problem why mess with success.

jb said that post game. i didnt notice anything during the game.

Heard it before the game today. Must be true if JB mentioned it in his presser, but like you didn't notice anything concrete in terms of it affecting his game play tonight. Just had an off game--no big deal. That's the great thing about having three experienced / high quality guards--JB can ride the hot hand and play the best combo every game.

Not messing with things is like saying don't play road games just sit them out, take a loss and pretending isn't one. Its like saying only play what you think you have a advantage with. And Road games aren't one.

My point is play to win reguardless of past circumstances.

Not messing with success sends a message saying nobody will get better to the point of beating you.
Or
It says they will get better, but you can't so why bother trying to mess with things.

JB is a HOF coach. Our staff as the experience to breakdown basketball like a 100 dollar bill being broken into pennies. They should choose. What the bleep do we know?

You been hitting the sauce in Raleigh tonight???

No it isn't--talk about armchair psychology.

We are a very good team this year--currently, ranked the #1 team. There is no reason--none whatsoever--to go making all types of changes at this point. The best thing about coaches--especially HOF coaches--is that they don't overreact to minutia like fans do and make unnecessary moves.

Honestly--reading this forum, you'd think that if the team isn't performing with orgasmic bliss every possible second of play, that something is wrong and adjustments need to be made. It was our first "real" road game, and the team accorded itself well. Character building game in front of a hostile crowd. And lots of character / leadership demonstrated by our team, who continue to never look rattled regardless of the game circumstances or crowd noise.

We nearly got a 20 point win, and the coaches STILL have lots of things from this game that they can ride the team about in practice this week. That's the best part. This team has a lot of leadership, and many of the right ingredients to make this a special season. The season is unfolding well thus far--there is no reason to make any reactionary personnel moves, or try to attach cosmic significance to how one player performed versus another in an "n" of 1 game.

When we played at MSG people were saying that Triche and Dion were the guards and Scoop needed to be a cheerleader. Last game most wanted MCW to be named BE ROY already. Now all of a sudden Brandon is garbage and Dion should start with Scoop?

Folks need to relax. We have a great team with a great stable of guards.

Just sit back, let JB coach, and enjoy the ride

I agree--a bunch of idiots. I seem to recall that Dion had an off game earlier in the year too.

...lets not forget we have 3 starting guards and probably a 4th before season ends with MCW.
Apparently JarHeadJim forgot that Triche was in game at time of our 20+ point run...and also in the second half to quell NCSTATE's run defensively...so he missed three shots and a FT (that tells me he was off as he is a 80+% FT shooter)...he did lead team with 4assts and 2 steals...so not so bad in 17 minutes...
Give JB credit for sticking with Scoop and Waiters as they were scoring...so far this year all three now have rode the pine for long stretches...yes i am a Triche fan...but 'Cuse comes first so no problem that Scoop and Dion starred last night...soon Triche will again...lets relax and enjoy being #1

I totally agree. Folks seem to forget that Melo started every game last year, and it wasn't because he was winning all the opening jump balls.

Leave well enough alone ... Triche is fine starting as is Scoop. Hell, Dion will win the "6th man"going away this year!! We are #1 and undefeated based on the line-up and substitutions that JB has implemented. Don't grumble ... be happy. And as far as Rak goes ... that is a tuff position to learn coming out of high school and to a completely foreign defense ... especially when Rak (as I recall) was playing playing primarily the 5 in high school. He will be good ... very, very good. He just needs apppropriate coaching, pt, and confidence ... which will all come in time. Remember Fab last year? ... and even Ricky wasn't all that great in his freshman year.
