I just watched the replay of the 89 yard touchdown. I haven't seen this discussed elsewhere, but it deserves mention.

Look at the positioning of Dungey's feet on the throw. He throws off of his right foot, and I'm not certain he was even on the ground. And he put the ball on the money. That's some serious arm strength right there.

it also shows that our fastest WR was almost caught by a wake db and he had a 5-7 yd lead.

Yeah, I was getting a little nervous, had this vision of him punching the ball out, Bryce Bevill style.

He wasn't...number 25 was definitely catching him but, as Milly said, it doesn't matter he score on an 89 pass play.

I think BE's speed is more suited over forty yards rather than 100.

I'd agree he's not a track sprinter and is suited for 40 yards.

If the Wake Forest defender dived, he probably could have tripped him up just short of the end zone.

It wasn't a straight line foot race. Estime's line bowed where the WF defender had a better angle and was on a straight line.

Regardless, doesn't matter, he was fast enough to make it 89 yards.

you can count far more plays where SU has been caught than scored from 50+, last year at wake we had the same play happen with the RB. its just a sign that we need more team speed and it also points out why he has yet to get behind a DB once in his career at WR, everyones DB seems to run step for step with him. he has good speed but not elite.

If you watch the play again, Bris gets held up a bit by his defender trying to make the tackle. He's also not running upfield when he makes the catch, but more toward the sideline. The Wake DB turned and ran in a straight line. He was already up to top speed while Bris was just getting going.

Bris' head was back in full sprint. No 2 ways about it.

That said he's plenty quick which is much more important for a WR than straight line speed. I'd imagine he runs a nice 40 time with the 10 and 20 yard splits that I love. After 40 yards a taller, strider will make up ground in a straight line BUT Brisley peeled in and the guy was beat. There is a reason none of the top 100m runners are 5'8. Bolt is 6'5 and always pulls from 50m on the win. Gatlin is 6'1 and got tracked down by Bolt at the recent WC's in the final 50m.

Was BE running towards the big screen to see the guy tracking him or did he just "feel" the guy bearing down on him?

Come on people! How much farther do you need him to outlast the fastest guy on the field? How many 90 yard TDs do you expect on the season? This thread has taken a ridiculous turn. I think some people on here would find something to criticize if we won the NC.

But he didn't catch him. That's the difference between Estime's wheels versus some of the other WRs we've had in recent years--that play becomes a touchdown instead of getting caught from behind at the 20. He also made a smart "cut" at the very end to take away the DBs angle.

But no question--that WF defensive back [#25] was FAST.

Do you understand that he may have been caught on a 98 yard reception? That's worrisome.

I mean this crazy Estime wasn't running at full speed and didn't need to. He was probably running at 80% speed and didn't get caught. Our team speed is infinitely faster than it has been in past seasons.

we have a whole conversation about why we play soft corner, and here is one about our fastest player almost getting caught. he also got caught on jet sweep in the 1st quarter by a DE. BE is fast, and fast enough for most plays. we play soft corner because our Dbs are slower than the other teams WR. teams play press on our WR and play physical too.

Is he our fastest player? Do we know that? I have a feeling in a 100 yard sprint some might be faster, but he is one of the most explosive put his foot in the ground 20 yard guys.

He didn't get caught on the 3rd longest pass in SU history, fast enough.
