Through the last 3 exhibitions it is pretty easy to see this year that we are a much better team with Fab on the floor on both ends. His defense today was fantastic; he was all over the floor, elevated above the rim for blocks, and even closed out on the wings. Offensively, I think we should start running the offense through the post like we did with Rick. Fab made two very good passes out of the post, and he has shown he can go up with it when he gets the ball.

I like Baye a lot, and Rak is good at the 4, but I'd prefer to see Fab getting 25-30 minutes as the year progresses, especially once we hit the Big East.

I was quite impressed to see Fab closing out on wings 21 feet from the basket. Can't help his rebounding totals, but great to see how mobile he is.

Agree and I think Fab will see a lot more minutes in the more meaningful games. It is a great luxury we have being able to bring in somebody like Keita (who I love also), but Fab definitely appears to be a difference maker this year. With the more PT he gets the more comfortable he will be and better he'll get offensively too. There should be enough minutes for both of them at the 5 to keep them both nice and fresh.

Once we get to tighter games I don't think we'll see much Rak at the 5 unless one of our 5's gets in foul trouble so typically we'll prob see like 25 mins of Fab and 15 mins of Keita a game give or take a few. I love Keita's energy that he brings off the bench.

Baye is playing great. He needs to be on the floor.

"This post was brought to you by the Fab Melo Superfans committee".

j/k

Thought he played great. I wouldn't start running the offense through him yet. We just played a bad team with no height. He's got to prove it against stronger competition.

I'm amazed at how Fab's basketball IQ has grown. His decision making was really good today...the pass to Southerland at the foul line for his bucket, the "re-direct" of the loose ball to Christmas for his dunk, and his positioning and defense in general are all much improved over last year. I find myself watching just him often and it's really neat to see how much he can change a game just by being a 7 foot threat to block shots and get rebounds. 7 footers with skills can really change games. And this is all without him having too much of an impact on the score. Count me as another who wishes the offense would run through the post more often. MCW seems to feed the post the best, IMO.

Fab is in infinitely better shape, but he's not a 35 minute player. Playing minutes in the twenties will allow him to expend more effort while he is in there. Give him 22 , Keita 15, and three with the "small" lineup with Xmas at the 5. That's what I bet we will see.

Once we hit the BE, this team will struggle to score in half court sets without a consistent inside scoring threat. In this sense, Fab will very much be a key to the success of the season. I don't think we will see him getting 30+ minutes, if for no other reason than he will be foul trouble constantly. Kieta is productive and understands his role. Still predicting that Rak's time at the 4 will decrease once BE play begins. He will rotate in more at the 5.

Fab played well, but he did have 3 fouls in 19 minutes, so expecting 35+ out of him would be a bit unrealistic. I like a 25/15 split between Fab and Keita.

Agree with this. Depending on fouls and just how Fab is looking, he should get about 25 min. a game. Baye, now with both hands healthy, will be a solid replacement for 15 min a game.

What is the status of his legal case? Is there a threat that we lose him for part of the season? I think there is still a court date coming up, no?

True, but two of them came in garbage time. He played the majority of the game with only 1.
