FBI arrests Assistant Basketball Coaches in Corruption Scheme

At this point, we don't know. Personally, I'm not going to say anything supporting or going against what the NCAA may have or have not done until we see what comes out of the noon presser. Arizona, OK State, Auburn, and USC-w will be on no post-season for at least 3 years if the assistant coaches who were arrested eventually enter guilty pleas.

Maybe...that's big business being taken away...no post-season. They wouldn't deny that cash flow coming in. Personally, I just think coaches will be fired and business as usual after.

So if penalties are handed out (i.e. no post-season), are non-involved players immediately eligible for transfer/play? Trying to think opportunistically...
Semester has already started, so I highly doubt that could work

Did we mention that South Carolina appears involved? It said one of the schools is in South Carolina with enrollment exceeding 30,000.
I was thinking of this Because one of the assistants is s former SC assistant. The Same assistant who recruited Dozier and Thornwell to SC. Their big time recruits of past years.

Can't wait for Jake to weigh in on this. I can tell you he's not going to be surprised ... as it's been going on in CB for years.

From someone close to me on SU's Hardwood Club, during Sam Bowie's recruitment: "We can only offer him $XXXXX, but Kentucky's going to give him 50% more so he's going to wind up there."

Yeah, it's been a dirty little secret at every school for a very long time.

Yeah I feel bad that one time he tripped, fell, and landed inside that hooker in the restaurant bathroom.
Post of the thread so far, lets see if we can get on a roll

I'm surprised the asst. coaches did it. Not a basketball ops guy or some other lower level staffer.

We have been competing against 3 serious cheaters: UNC, Ville, and Miami. I surmise that things will get back to normal and our place in the ACC will be similar to what it was in the Big East. It will start with Carey coming to the Cuse. Otherwise, Miami would have prevailed. This is a big set-back and embarrassment to the NCAA. If anything, they will be less tolerant of the UNC mischief. Otherwise, they will risk having the whole ball of wax get out of control.

People will flip. That is what the FBI does best. This is the tip of the iceberg as all the sports companies are probably involved.

When teams are not allowed to pay for services rendered it is textbook econ 101 that black market means will be used.

Just reading this forum. I had already heard Miami from another sport group I am in. I am hoping (although did not hold true for Louisville) that being on probation will end up being a good thing for us, and that we will be clean during this time period.

I'm only glancing at that affidavit, but it talks about $150k being paid to a player to go to University 7.

Could that be Lonnie Walker?
