FBI arrests Assistant Basketball Coaches in Corruption Scheme

Dan Wetzel was just on the Dan Patrick show. He makes me nervous. He said it will involve name schools and HOF coacheS. I hope the plural didn't mean anything.

Just reading this forum. I had already heard Miami from another sport group I am in. I am hoping (although did not hold true for Louisville) that being on probation will end up being a good thing for us, and that we will be clean during this time period.
If Louisville is involved they are screwed bigly as they are under NCAA probation currently. Another violation they will get hammered.

Seems like the auburn connection is with Austin Wiley, who of course is the five star center they brought in.

Not worried about Syracuse.
All of our assistants have been alumni and JB has stayed out of agents stuff.

Lydon had an agent before JB knew.

JB is a pro wiTh stuff like this he wouldn't steer his players to any agency.

This is going to be schools with shady AAU connections and if it's HOF coaches I would guess world wide Wes and Calipari are involved.

From someone close to me on SU's Hardwood Club, during Sam Bowie's recruitment: "We can only offer him $XXXXX, but Kentucky's going to give him 50% more so he's going to wind up there."

Yeah, it's been a dirty little secret at every school for a very long time.
Tarkanian tells a great story on Bowie's recruitment.

This would explain why we lose some players and why we don't recruit others that maybe we should.

Tark's book is loaded with great recruiting stories. He tells one about Moses Malone getting offered money at "an SEC school" which he refuses to name but I assume it's Kentucky.

If Kentucky is not involved... are they just that much better than everybody else at cheating?

They don't need petty ca$h from Adidas to pay off their recruits, they handle all of that in-house at BBN.

If Nike comes off clean from this, I think it's pretty obvious who got this investigation rolling.

Nike shares have been down big, they've lost a lot of money on Amazon from third-parties and are selling direct now which is a big change from being strictly wholesale, Adidas has doubled it's market share, Under Armour is now a serious competitor, declining sales of footwear stores like Footlocker, etc. The market share is getting smaller and smaller. I could see why Nike would want to throw their growing competition under the bus especially while fighting for the Asian market.

And today Nike is supposed to announce earnings.

I am nervous too.

Interested to hear recruit names for Arizona. Very interested.

Could make a lot of sense.

Let me fix that for you, sir

"I don't think Nike schools got caught"

Yep. I don't think this is any indication of Nike engaging or not engaging in these shenanigans. The hearsay around the case is that the adidas schools were doing what they were doing to compete with Nike schools that were doing the same. Not sure if true or not.
