  • Will we ever be good on Special teams? We've kept our streak going of losing at least one game on Special teams per year-When will we win one on Special teams (Not going to count Villanova Kicker missing a field goal)? Even a healthy Estime had nowhere to go on returns. The blocking is nonexistent. To me, Special teams is 75% coaching. I don't believe Duke's athletes were that much better than ours.
  • The D has kept us in every game. Too bad we've somewhat wasted their effort this season. Will miss Reddish as much as anyone.
  • Scary thought-is Whigham our #1 Corner next year? He needs to lock himself in the weight room from the day the season ends until camp. I believe he has some ability.
  • I have zero doubt that Wilson will not be our future QB (unless 3 other QB's are hurt, but when does that ever happen?). If you don't have mobility, you better be darn good at everything else. I'm not usually a guy to make snap judgements on a guy, but don't think he has enough going for him. The staff doesn't even trust him to start a full game (hence the rotations with Long and then Kimble).
  • I am actually intrigued a bit with kimble's running ability-I am interested to see if he can throw the ball a bit better with a little more reps this year and some normal field position. Let him and Long split the last 2 games if Long is healthy. Let's see what we got there.
  • Phillips is really elusive-he and PTG are our only 2 healthy guys who can make people miss
  • Was Steve Ishmael playing yesterday? Gotta get the ball in his direction...maybe they're saving him for the bowl game...um
  • Did i mention how awesome the D has been? I think we give up as many TD's on Offense/Special teams as we do on Defense
  • Props to Hickey (and others on the OL, such as trudo) for gutting it out. Considering everything the OL played as well as you can ask.

I said it in the chat yesterday, but it seems to be that Kimble has a hitch in his throw that doesn't allow him to: A. Get the ball out quickly and B. deliver the ball with velocity.

I love his running ability, but when you have a hitch in your throw, it can severely limit the throws you have to make. It leaves your ball on the out throw hanging longer than you want it. With the 15-20 yard out being the toughest throw to make on the field, you don't want that ball fluttering and late. It makes balls being thrown over the middle harder to complete as well. A simple slant becomes more complicated with that hitch, because it allows more time for the CB's to react to the quick slant, and the linebacker to get to his drop/react.

I really hope he gets this hitch fixed, because I like his motility. For this being the first time he has seen the field, I thought he played admirably.

we were also a holding call away from allowing another td on st's yesterday. punt return unit is about -8 vs. opp.

That's the million-dollar question for Kimble-Is it fixable? He looked like Jordan Lynch running the ball.

Kimble throws a little bit like hogan from stanford, however his hitch is a little bit more pronounced and the ball comes out even slower. Im sure it can be coached out of him, but im not sure who on this staff has the ability to get him to the next level

The thing is, this is his second year in the Program. Seems it should have been coached out by now.

Very good points op. I'll add the receivers running their routes hard and with a purpose. I'd like to see the replay and just watch how they ran their routes because when I watched them during the game too many of them just glided and actually ran to the defensive players instead of away.

As brilliant as Dixon and Murphy were, the return teams were 180 bad. They honestly looked like they never worked on blocking all year bad.

It's amazing how many drives we start in our own 5-10 yard line -Is that just great punting by opposing teams or are our guys not in the right place?

That field position battle and getting the ball to the 40 or so vs the SU D stings and did play a part in the ineffectiveness of the offense. I wonder how many times SU had the ball at the 10 or worse compared to their opponents this year and what games.

I don't blame Desire for fair catching as often as he did because of the poor blocking in front of him. Still need a guy that can help the struggling offense on special teams and I know it might sound strange but I'd like to see what Kimble could do returning punts.

The funny thng is it looked much better on Sat then it did last spring. Best case scenario for the team is Kimble is a good backup option for the next three seasons.

It's in part because we play for field position, and when you play that game long enough, you lose.
