FHCSS Saturday

Coach P was awkward to me because it wasn't clear if he could have recovered and improved or if we just needed to start over.
See Pasqualoni's tenure at Uconn. That should clear it up for you.

P was an excellent coach who won a ton of big games (lost some headscratchers too). The arc of the career ended, with a variety of thing he couldn't of wouldn't control with investment in the program and a lousy ending. But frankly it's insulting to him to compare him to SS.

Shafer took over a program that Marrone had trending in the right direction. I liked Shafer as a d coordinator. I think his biggest mistake was with the staff he assembled. Not a big P fan but he had a pretty good run at SU.

If only he'd been able to get Matt Canada instead of McF@ckit for OC. I often wondered how different a good coach in that position would have made.

Excellent post. P needed to be replaced - after a great run that was fading. SS is not a peer of P in our lexicon. Certainly above Gerg, but that's about it.

This made me think about different coaches coming back. Coach P was awkward to me because it wasn't clear if he could have recovered and improved or if we just needed to start over. Marrone and HCSS get the respect they deserve for their service, bringing home bowl wins, etc.

Greggers gets booed and egged, I don't think there is any way around that.
Robinson isn't coming back to the Dome unless whatever high school team is he defensive coordinator for makes the NYS finals

You will all be happy to know Coach got a VERY warm welcome from our section. He was shaking hands going up the stairs like the president at the state of the union!
