Final CFP Rankings for Dec 8

Alabama lost to two .500 SEC teams Nick! LMAO.
Think his mouth saying playing at Vandy was like a home game for Alabama or a lot of teams because they have more fans. Some people should know when to shut their mouths.

Joey Galloway, to mention one of these dopes, is going to die on the hill of, “yeah but SMU lost and they had no top 25 wins”. You mean like Texas and Indiana? And Penn State who had one, lost yesterday and has a home playoff game?
Yes I can never remember his name. He bothers me.

The SEC champion needed 8 OT's to beat a middle of the road ACC team (Georgia Tech) and really should have lost.
That more than likely would have knocked Georgia and their whiny coach out.

and artifically inflated narratives of how "good" or "bad" certain teams are.

The SOS number itself is formulaic and based on results, so the narratives don't drive too much in its calculation Although narratives will certainly drive what data points (such as SOS) get ignored for some and what gets enhanced for others.

Given the majority of the schedule is in conference in a 12 game schedule, it’s difficult vs like hoops where you have so many more opportunities.

There is too much subjectivity in the rankings for SOS to be in the end all and be all factor in deciding these things. Teams get ranked only because of the conference they are in and they hold rankings because of the conferences they are in. They put down SMU because the are ACC but don’t say a word about Indiana because the conference the are in.

They talk about SMU having no wins over top 25 teams because they are ACC so it’s a bad thing but they don’t mention that Texas has no wins over the top 25 because of the conferences they are in. Only time they played ranked team they lost to the same team twice.

Once the media starts treating everything the same we will start getting to a better place.

They need to adjust the quality wins metric - to top 25 home games + top 35 road games (or maybe even 25-40) Similar to the Q1 concept in basketball.
The ACC wants respect then schedule the SEC and Big top teams and win. The 4 schools that currently have games with them need to start winning those games.
Georgia Tech extending their coach for almost beating Georgia isn't good enough.
Georgia Tech, FSU, Clemson, and Louisville need to consistently win those games every year.

SOS (or even really any metrics) is probably more flawed in football because as you said there are so few games / different schedules within a conference / less data points.

If you go to the 10+2+0 scheduling model and look at the last 3 in and first 3 out...

Tennessee would need to trade Chattanooga for a road P4.
Indiana would need to trade Western Illinois for a road P4.
SMU would need to trade Houston Christian for a home G5.
Bama would need to trade Mercer for home P4.
Miami would need to trade Florida A&M for a home P4.
Ole Miss would need to trade Furman for a home P4.

Things would look a lot different.

but your opponent has to AGREE to the game. And what is the SEC/BIG10 incentive to play these OOC games when the narrative is working in their favor right now?

That is the key to all of this. And with ESPN and CBS being conflicted with legit confilicts of interest. I mean they are doing it right now...Oh Oregon has a tough draw! says who? Of the BS narrative again.

Lets play the playoff. I actually hope SMU wins the whole thing to show these clowns that much like Joe Shaein in NY, you (pundits/comittee members etc) don't really know .
