Fire Autry

I haven't read the article and probably won't. Right now, the team has lost three games in a row. Two of the games we were favored and one we were 1.5 point underdog. So, basically three games we could have or should have won.

I have three questions.

1) When was the last time in the ESPN era has Syracuse lost three conference games in a row.

2) How many times in the ESPN era has Syracuse lost three conference games in a row.

3) We have eleven conference games left. How many of those games will Syracuse be the favorite. I'm guessing either none or very few.
Syracuse lost three conference games in a row last year in both January and February.

We will definitely be favored in our home games against Notre Dame and Pitt. The Cal game spread will depend on how the teams play during the next two weeks. Go Cuse!

Miami had Lucas hired by early to mid February last season. This is why we need to move on from Red soon. Who cares if our assistants are incompetent. The future of the program is way more important than the remaining games this season.

Also, the list of qualified candidates doesn't appear to be long at the moment. Another reason to start the formal process.

only reason i can think of is that if the assistant does well, then people will clamour for them to be the next coach. We need a clean break

How about learn how to shoot a free throw. With video and athletic software there is no reason not to learn how to properly and smoothly shoot a free throw. Emulate the great free thrower shooters you see online. Work separately with Eric Devendorf. Look at golf - everyone now has the same swing versus the variety seen 50 years ago - hell I even improved by watching endless videos. No reason a team should average less than 70 percent +. Not talking about shooting jumpers. Talking about standing at a line and putting the ball in the hoop. If you are getting paid and want to play at the next level, learn how to properly shoot free throws. The minute I saw some of the free throw shooting form in November I had a feeling we were going to be toast this year….huge red flag…canary in the coal mine.
It's always confounded me that big men cannot shoot FT in college, but in the pros they're almost automatic.
Why can't they learn to put more backspin on when they're younger?

I was always okay shooting FT's as a smaller guard. As good as them? no.

Red will be gone at the end of the year.

Unless we have a 5-6 game losing streak, and then it'll get late early for him.

It'll all be over in 6 weeks.

6 weeks. That's like Spring Training.
Until then,,

JW will thank Red, name the interim coach and announce that a national search will take place. It's that simple.

If by some miracle the interim coach does well, which is a low bar to attain that will help their resume.

Lucas was hired on March 5

Lucas was hired on March 5

That's when he was officially announced.

Jai Lucas was officially announced as the new head coach of the University of Miami men’s basketball team on March 6, 2025, after a preliminary agreement was reached around Feb. 22, 2025. He left his position as Duke's associate head coach to take the role.

Conversations were taking place much earlier to Feb. 22nd.

l think Brent Axe's column this morning on Syracuse.com is unnecessarily harsh and unkind. He leads with quotes from the movie "Hoosiers" and almost says that Adrian Autry is a dead man walking. Did I want AA to be the coach? No. Did I think he should have been given a third year? No. But as I think Kiyan says in the interview is a priior post on here, he is still a human being, and a Syracuse alum. No need to make it worse than we already know it is. And I think Brent somewhat crudely comes close to the line if not crosses it. And as many of us on here suspect, he probably has read every post in this thread. I'll repeat this one statement he makes in his column this morning:

"Autry is already being referred to in the past tense by a segment of the fan base as the chance to play meaningful games in March is fading into the distance."

Actually, I don't recall any post on here refer to him in the past tense. Although many now think it's inevitable (we hope).
Dead Red Walking?

Lucas was hired on March 5

True but I think it was long rumored and Lucas and Duke may have been trying to figure out when they would part ways if he would stick around for NCAA etc
