Fire Autry

And 239th in three point shooting. Eighteen games into the season and those rankings aren't going to change a lot.

A sign of poor coaching is always playing to your competition's level and looking really good some games and poor other times.

It's crazy to think if anyone thinks that this team can go on any magical run, but there is some individual talent. But, nothing is showing that the "team" is capable of doing so.

Hopefully no one is holding their breath that it's going to happen. Right now, the team is 5th in the ACC standings. Thirteen more games to go. Where will Cuse end up?

This outcome was predictably inevitable.

It's what happens when you hire under-qualified people into performance driven roles.

There was an enormous amount of rationalization when Red got the job, but it was an incredibly poor decision that has led to further decline. He couldn't coach when he inherited a roster of someone else's players, he couldn't coach when he had the chance to go reshape the roster with a bunch of portal transfers last year, and he can't coach when we have a roster that is clearly capable of making the NCAA tournament, were it not for the bad coaching.

Common denominator: bad coaching.

It’s time for him and the staff to go. Constantly has his team looking unprepared, can’t win Quad 1 games, etc. and has had 3 years to show something. He has failed MISERABLY, and it’s time for him to go. Adrian Autry = Kenny Payne, and it’s time for Syracuse to take the Louisville route and fire their HC and go OUTSIDE of their program for the next one.
Ask boeheim or carmelo finish the year. Then look for another coach. I would not let red finish the season. His substitutions are unusual at best
This team has vg talent but no cohesion or consistancy .

First time peeking in this thread. Yesterday I watched a team completely collapse and lose a game they should have won. Every game I've watched this year, we've lost. The problem isn't the players, it's coaching. Red needs to go.
Hah I read this and thought you were going to say you personally were the reason we lose every time cuz you actually watch. This was actually the first game I didnt watch and we lost. Maybe I’m the problem for not watching!

Coaching is over rated compared to talented players. Get better players and we will win more.
and why do we have ZERO recruits for next year?
because of COACHING. (there was another coach who recently blamed his players - Todd Bowles)

The Head Coach of a premier collegiate basketball program serves as the strategic leader and public face of the team, responsible for maintaining a culture of excellence both on and off the court. Primary duties include recruiting elite talent through traditional high school channels and the transfer portal, while navigating the complex landscape of NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) to ensure program competitiveness. The role requires expert in-game tactical management, the development of comprehensive training programs, and the mentorship of student-athletes to ensure academic eligibility and holistic growth. Additionally, the Head Coach must act as a key fundraiser and ambassador, engaging with donors, alumni, and national media to enhance the program's brand and financial stability while strictly adhering to all NCAA and conference regulations.

And being a head coach now is ten times harder than it was 5 years ago and 100 times harder than it was 20 years ago.

They basically need to be a CEO. If they can't delegate and hold people accountable, then their "corporation" is going to fail miserably and their stockholders and/or Board of Directors are going to end up replacing them.

It's no surprise why a lot of older, very successful head coaches have chosen to retire.

~13 assists per game (245th), ~12 turnovers (173rd), and ~63% from the free-throw line (363rd). When you put those numbers together, it’s clear why this team is operating at the absolute floor of its collective ability. Yesterday’s loss shouldn’t shock anyone.
This program looks like a ship drifting without a rudder—no direction, no accountability, and no clear plan—and nothing is going to change before the season ends. Could they make a magical run in the ACC Tournament? Sure, in the same way buying a lottery ticket can make you a millionaire.
But hope isn’t a strategy. This program needs major changes and intentional decisions that prioritize structure, accountability, and the building of a winning culture. Until that happens, nights like yesterday will remain the norm, not the exception.
This is the post. Well said and spot on.

I'll just say one thing nice about Autry. He's clearly a good high-major assistant coach. The strengths he has work as an assistant. His weaknesses are glaring and showed up quickly as the main man. I'm sure he'll get a good job shortly after. It's a shame it didn't work out.

Exactly...The kind of Coaching posters are implying in their comments to fire Red, includes an old school definition of coaching. The point I have tried to make is the highlight of your post. MONEY, in all the ways that a program can obtain it, is wrapped up in the success of a program, and that is a much bigger determinant of success than what most of posters recognize.

This is a strawman that you have been beating to death.

Red had everything he needed this year, including the NIL budget to vastly upgrade the roster, which he did. All of that talent isn't just mysteriously underperforming... everyone can see that Red just doesn't have even a rudimentary set of skills when it comes to being a HC. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any P5/BE coach that stands out as being possibly worse.

You're basically insisting that all of us just ignore what we can see with our own eyes. It's almost comical at this point. I hope you work through the denial stage soon; we are all hurting.

For all Autry lovers, what do you plan to do when we're not playing in March?
For the third year.
Watching the tourney hugging my melo championship poster. Wishing we had actually hired a real.head coach.

Let me simplify and boil it down...

Autry is atrocious coach
+
Overall team talent is pretty average.
=
Bad and inconsistent team
