Fire Autry

According to Paulie on Orange nation they have offensive sets and we’re all stupid for thinking they don’t.
He’s not lying. They run high ball screens and dribble hand-offs (endlessly). And they do run some off-ball screening sets, pin-downs and flare screens, especially involving Kingz. But it’s not consistent at all. We probably run them on a quarter or less of the possessions. We seem to run less sets than even what JB ran. And they’re usually really poorly executed. There’s little complexity in the offense. It’s laughable.

To say nothing of the other things on offense that most teams are coached on, to help get open looks -- such as purposeful movement off the ball, screens away from the ball, etc.

Those things are all coached. Players do them because they are held accountable for doing them. Or not, in our case.

They also don't run them with purpose or discipline. We run the sets to go through the motions, not to accomplish anything. Like many times, they run a set, and Donnie will have a guard or someone smaller on him in the post, and they don't even look at him. What are you running a set for if not to get a mismatch on your best player? Its like they are running a set but have no clue why what they are trying to do by running the set.

When Donnie is in, he either picks and pops or demands the ball in a post-up too far away from the basket. Have rarely ever seen Donnie involved in an actual offensive set.

I think we run more plays than people think but we are not clean in executing them most of the time. Usually too slow and sloppy. Which goes back to you know who….

I think we run tons of plays (well, maybe 2) - however, if the cut isn't open, it doesn't seem like many other team shows as much general complacency as we do. We seem to lose all purpose if the first option fails - other teams keep weaving, keep running a set - keep moving. We just stand in place at that point and hope the ISO gods bestow points upon us. :(

Watching Louisville vs SMU. The announcers just pointed out that a backup player for Louisville has a +18. Kelsey keeps him. I believe that there is a 0% chance Autry would do the same.
