Fire Autry

I trust the opinions of former players and coaches over any of the rest of us. They know more and have better access to the facts than we do.

Maybe in 2017 but not anymore. This is a new era and requires new thinking.

You need clear coaching tactics, smart scouting to find transfer portal talent, $$$ when you need to break a deadlock for a player.

I would add that now they have to have some charisma/personality to be able to get the NIL money from the fans, community, and big-time donors.

So you dont think the problem is coaching?
Not saying that, not saying in game coaching is the issue either. I know I have been watching SU since Boeheim was an assistant. Went to SU his first four years as head coach. I was a gym rat, spent time playing hoops with a lot of the players. Got to talk to Bernie Fine quite a bit and JAB a little. I have coached several youth teams. All that being said I know that most of our former players and coaches know more than we do. We might want to measure their opinions with our own. Their knowledge of a team with ours, and give those opinions a lot of credence. We are all disappointed

I quite frankly do not care about former players opinions, especially when it consists of former players that attack people like Dick Vitale for supporting Caitlin Clark.

Completely different subject and situation. Not at all germaine to the discussion regarding the decision to retain Coach Autry or to start over with new coaches and players.

There is zero chance Autry will be back. He has been a complete failure and the program is dying. Wildhack is smart enough to see all of this. 6 more weeks
Will a new Chancellor have input? Probably not, this is SU not the SEC

We start over with mostly new players every year regardless who is the coach. What did we have, two guys back from last year? How many the year before? About the same, i think.
We shouldn't be retaining coaches merely for the purpose of keeping players.

If the new Chancellor is someone currently on campus he may have the ultimate say. In fact he may have been at the game last Saturday, sitting next to JB.

Yes, but let's say the coaching staff is gone right after the ACC tourney and we hire a new coach within one week. So we try and portal a squad with a Will Wade type? Do we have Will's budget?

Well, the elephant in the room is Red was the Associate HC, not Gerry, and leapfrogging Autry to hire Gerry would have set off media firestorms from people like Stephen A. Smith talking about the racism in passing over a black man with seniority to hire an unproven white guy.
Ok. But GMac has never really impressed me as a coach at all. I appreciate his legendary playing career, but he’s full of himself, as others say. And he was a very poor recruiter and a lot of his guys were busts. Red too. Hop is the only assistant with the personality to be a successful head coach but he failed to put it together at Washington.

I generally don’t. I actually trust the fans more! The players are loyal to the old guard who coached them. Though I do appreciate Devo’s honesty. He’s real.

I don’t. They are incredibly biased. Often blinded by loyalty.
