Fire Autry

I think she’s likely calling out the level of vitriol directed towards Autry, the intensity of which none of us can truly understand. I get it he is on the hot seat and fans are frustrated, but I would venture to guess it’s an insane experience to be on the other side of that in the social media age.

She just said we should stop kicking Red in the balls when he's already down.

It's not going to get him fired any quicker.

Hes compensated millions of dollars, boo hoo. If the average person isn’t good at their job they are fired. They aren’t brought back again and again to earn millions more.

Give me a break. He has been handled with kid gloves compared to everywhere else on Earth. The media gives him a hall pass every press conference.

Red isnt getting fired until the season is over, you can be assured that JW has been talking to agents for a while, after the BC game he probably knew 100% he had to make a change. There is no reason to fire him during the season other than to make fans breathe a sigh of relief, which isn’t a reason to do it. We aren’t going to double our attendance down the stretch if they announce Red isn’t coming back now vs in early March.

I think it's a little bit like people crowding the gate trying to get on a plane that isn't taking off any sooner or later as a result. Is it pragmatic? No, definitely not. Is it a relief to get on the plane, check off a milestone in the journey and mentally move on to the next one? Yes.

I'd note airlines go to some effort to let their best paying customers on first, so while it might not matter from a practical perspective, it does from a business one. Fans fund the whole operation here, and unlike an airplane there's no chokepoint for the aisle. One public letter and everyone gets to move forward one step.

Yeah interesting point/analogy. I would think at least the big donors have heard from JW and know what is going on behind the scenes

To be fair the average person is typically very bad at their job and "should" be fired, but rarely are they. Also he has a contract and is getting paid regardless.

I've been working in Corporate America a long time :). If you really want to catch a show stop by a state or local government office.

I was actually surprised to see our NET at 69 this morning. If Red was to somehow figure out a way to coach and actually win 7 or 8 more games the rest of the year, we’d probably find a way into the tournament. But we all know that’s as likely as Melo getting his eligibility back and joining the team next week to play alongside Kiyan.
The conference as a whole is much improved. There was a lot of opportunity this season on multiple fronts. Very unfortunate that it was basically sacrificed.

Love this analogy and it's pretty damn obvious what is about to happen unfortunately for circumstance, but what needs to happen. I would be surprised if those closest to the program haven't heard from the decision makers themselves of what is going to happen. I also laugh about people on X freaking out over FLJ "tone the rhetoric down" message. Clearly not seeing that she herself probably knows what is about to happen, she gets why everyone is upset, and she is trying to use her voice to influence people to be more positive right now, especially since it's going to being taken care of barring some crazy run down the stretch. Even with a crazy run, we saw with Kevin Keatts and Patrick Ewing that those were just crazy runs not an indication of arrival at a new level for the program. I would hope the administration sees what happened after those runs. So if you know the decision, announce it asap, especially if Red wants to finish coaching the season, maybe we all gather around for these last few games and the team comes together for a big ACCT run, idk. I know me personally I already see what is going to happen. I still tune in, but I just don't get frustrated by the play and the usual things you get frustrated about during the games.

That's what's probably driving the interest in hearing a public statement that he is going to be replaced at the end of the season. The general public are being asked to support the program but they're not getting any information other than keep throwing good money away because we need it.

Personally, I don't think I care all that much that Wildhack NEEDS to make a statement that SU will be replacing Autry at the end of the season. I would welcome it, but it doesn't change anything for me. I do want to hear from the university, in one form or another, that they recognize where the sports programs are and that they intend (ETA) to improve to a championship level.

I don’t know much about Davis as a coach other than seeing what they did to us, watched them beat Duke, and that their record is 19-4.

Is he seriously on the hot seat? That’s bonkers.
A coach can be fired if he has a winning record/team if the team is not living up to program’s standard or achieving higher expectations. Average teams or a “big” win shouldn’t save a coach. Mark Jackson’s firing at Golden State was questionable at the time, but greater future accomplishments quieted that.

That does not mean they deserve a constant stream of insults. You would feel differently if you were on the receiving end of what AA is dealing with on social media from "fans". I am sure he has heard plenty of horrible comments at recent home games too. You can still show him some basic respect. He will 100% guaranteed be fired.

He's had double digit losses in three of his first four years, and likely was favored in the majority of those games. Looks like he's figured it out at least this season in giving it to Caleb Wilson and Derek Dixon.

What's been difficult is the 2 SU teams I follow are SU football and Basketball. Going in, I was excited about both seasons and I ended up looking forward to both seasons being over. Not a great combo.

FWIW, there was a substantial increase in coaching and support staff salaries to add or retain Kehres, Nixon, Castillo, Ryan, and Johnson. By Syracuse standards, they have invested in the football program at an unprecedented level since Fran's arrival. Late to the party - yes. But the commitment is there.

We will see if this trend carries over to basketball this off season. I can tell you with absolute certainty the loss of revenue is a MAJOR concern for admins, including in new Chancellor. Changes are coming...

Very matter of fact article. Not sure why it’s pay walled when the take away is “these teams are not doing well.”

Because everything On3 writes is paywalled.

How else do they keep the lights on.

Of course they should charge for their content, I just figured a pay-walled article would have some analysis and not something that a casual observer could conclude on their own by looking at team record. I am sure their other stuff is higher quality

Raises my blood pressure to see idiots here and on twitter dismiss what FLJ was saying. At no point does she say we need to "accept having a bad team" or anything remotely close to that. She keeps the focus on EXCESSIVE negativity, and speaks almost entirely about social media. There are several on this board and certainly several on social media who live for negativity. They love having the chance to get away with saying over the top things and posting about red working at amazon next year or whatever it is. She sums it up perfectly when she says "the first 47 times you tweet at us, we saw that, we understand your frustration" "people saying 'you suck' 'you're terrible' 'I can't believe you are on this team' do you think that is going to help us improve?"

The amount of mouth breathers in our fanbase who lack basic comprehension skills, hear that and think oh she wants us to be ok with how terrible the team is? No, just realize there is absolutely nothing accomplished with repetitive excessive negativity and insults to staff and players. What is accomplished by being a broken record with the insults here and on social media? Saying nothing, or god forbid trying to say something encouraging, it doesn't mean you are ok with Red coming back next year, and that the powers that be will see things like that and bring him back. It just means you showed some basic respect to people in the cuse family. She never says anything remotely close to "Red should not be criticized" and certainly not "Red should not be fired" but mouth breathers hear what they want to hear. FLJ is a 1000x better human being than the people hurling insults non-stop.

Couldn't have said it better
