Fire Autry

I think the benefit of making the announcement now is the players might rally together and play harder defense. Instead of losing by 20 we might make these upcoming games a lot more competitive.

Raises my blood pressure to see idiots here and on twitter dismiss what FLJ was saying. At no point does she say we need to "accept having a bad team" or anything remotely close to that. She keeps the focus on EXCESSIVE negativity, and speaks almost entirely about social media. There are several on this board and certainly several on social media who live for negativity. They love having the chance to get away with saying over the top things and posting about red working at amazon next year or whatever it is. She sums it up perfectly when she says "the first 47 times you tweet at us, we saw that, we understand your frustration" "people saying 'you suck' 'you're terrible' 'I can't believe you are on this team' do you think that is going to help us improve?"

The amount of mouth breathers in our fanbase who lack basic comprehension skills, hear that and think oh she wants us to be ok with how terrible the team is? No, just realize there is absolutely nothing accomplished with repetitive excessive negativity and insults to staff and players. What is accomplished by being a broken record with the insults here and on social media? Saying nothing, or god forbid trying to say something encouraging, it doesn't mean you are ok with Red coming back next year, and that the powers that be will see things like that and bring him back. It just means you showed some basic respect to people in the cuse family. She never says anything remotely close to "Red should not be criticized" and certainly not "Red should not be fired" but mouth breathers hear what they want to hear. FLJ is a 1000x better human being than the people hurling insults non-stop.
Fans are at their breaking point, five years without a tournament. Are we supposed to smile and nod?

Look, I hear ya' and agree with you're basic premise, but I do think you're being a bit naive about the whole situation. The level of nastiness we're witnessing towards Red isn't happening in a vacuum - look around at social media when it comes to politics, sports, entertainment, etc. This is just a carry-over of the toxic climate in general- it's why haters rule the roost.
Fans, whether SU or otherwise, have ALWAYS veered towards assholic behavior. I remember JB getting pummeled relentlessly because he "cant coach & can't win the big one"- all pronouncements by misinformed, entitled fans who couldn't coach a peewee team, but swore they knew more than the HC. It was only when the wins piled up and it became obvious when the negatoids stepped back, and of course the new line of attack evolved into "he stacked his wins record w/ cupcakes" blah blah blah.
It's simply the nature of the beast, amplified 10000x in our current media environment.
As one medical professional to another, I recommend avoiding meathead message boards, podcasts, and any other outlet that caters to negativity...which basically means about 95% of them. Let the patients congregate amongst themselves- its a lot healthier for you and your overall well-being. You're welcome!
JMHO ;)

I hear what you and Banko are saying, but to me it is like seeing someone being mugged on the street and going, ah well this happens all the time in other cities, people get assaulted or worse every day around the world, so I am not going to do anything. You still should do what you can to help, especially when it is in your own community. Social media rewards toxicity and rude behavior to a degree where it is impossible to stop entirely, but that does not make it a useless act to call out toxicity and rude behavior IMO. Nothing will ever change if people sit back and let it happen. I think FLJ is still 100% right to call it out, despite it likely not leading to any major changes in behavior from the online loser crowd. I am trying to follow her example.

The difference is you see something happen in the street and you can do something about (more or less), but on social media there is nothing that you, i, or anyone else can do other than ignore it. I cant ban them from instagram or X and we likely dont know who they actually are so you cant even exert social pressure to try and get them to stop. It stinks but every coach knows what they're getting into when they get the job.

^^^^This. Social media is a petri dish for creating toxic and rude behaviors. In a society that has turned tribal and challenging for everyone, extending a little kindness to everyone is something we should all try. I agree with Dr. above and at a high level I would hope everyone on this board would agree with that.

FLJ, and you, have every right and indeed, obligation, to call out what you see as unconscionable behavior.
Speaking personally, I choose to pick my battles. This is done mostly out of practicality, and peace of mind. Keyboard warriors are a dime a dozen. But Red is a big boy- he can take it, and realistically it's what he signed up for...whether he realized it at the time, or not.
Is it right or a good look? Of course not- I'd rather it wasn't happening. But it is...what it is. JMHO

That does not mean they deserve a constant stream of insults. You would feel differently if you were on the receiving end of what AA is dealing with on social media from "fans". I am sure he has heard plenty of horrible comments at recent home games too. You can still show him some basic respect. He will 100% guaranteed be fired.
The great thing about social media is that no one has to read it. I'm going to assume that Autry doesn't spend his downtime doom scrolling on Twitter.

I agree that the toxicity of online culture is horrendous. But he's pretty well insulated from the worst of things, save for the occasional shout during a game or an a-hole calling into his radio show.

Id say all things considered things here are pretty tame, you should see the kentucky board, and they are going to the tournament. Years ago bama fans wanted Saban fired because he got blown out by lsu one game.

LSU has run 3 coaches out the door for not winning enough. 2 of them delivered a national championship. imagine what they were saying on the boards

If Red is let go before the end of the season let’s have some fun and let a former player be head coach. If they lose a game, they are replaced.😉

Devo, DC, Billy O., Etan, Hak, Sherman, Rony, heck even a Jonny /Paul Harris combo game. Let’s go nuts.

Harris would turn over the clipboard before Flynn got his hands on it.

I'm not really sure what she's mad at here?? Did she misread the text or something? I don't get it lol, everything in this video is factual

She is mad at the implication that her comments were in any way a response to what Carmelo said on social media. She says "I have been expressing positivity for months" as a counter to them acting like her comments were just a response to the recent melo comments. This news clip stupidly tries to draw a connection between the two.

I wouldn’t mind a few “celeb shots”

Everyone gets a game lol

Give me a break. He has been handled with kid gloves compared to everywhere else on Earth. The media gives him a hall pass every press conference.
I've seen him photoshopped with Jeffrey Epstein and on Osama Bin Laden on the cesspool that is twitter... I don't care who you are or how much money you make. That's not cool.

Short of AA getting caught in a scandal they're not gonna fire a former player mid-season, regardless of whether you think they should.

As for FLJ, she has the right to say what she feels, but giving oxygen to the worst/most reactive segment of the fanbase is never a good idea, even if it's to criticize them.
