For anyone looking to pick up Duke tickets today

I am a season ticketholder ('C' Preferred) and appreciate that I had the ability to purchase a number of extra tickets to individual games. We do not buy seasons for our kids yet as we just bring them to day/weekend games so the presale enables me to get decent seats for them, my brother and his kids, etc. 8 is a fair limit. It is a benefit of being a season ticketholder and I do not begrudge anyone from selling any of their tickets on the secondary market.

Going into last week my plan was to buy the family packs (2 ADULT + 2 YOUTH) for the Duke, UNC, Pitt, NC ST, Nova, Miami, and Clemson games.

Last Monday I called up to the box office asked if there was going to be a season ticketholder pre-sale as in previous years. They guy told me 'probably' and that it might be on Monday or Tuesday of this week.

Didn't leave me with much confidence, and since I was heading away for long holiday weekend I wanted to make sure I was covered for the Duke game.

So last week I purchased 8 of the $160 six packs when they went on sale (3 for friend, 3 for my kids at adult prices, 2 extra) to cover myself for the Duke game (also got Pitt and NC St plus three scrub games). Got decent upper level seats court side low rows.

After I bought those the email came on Friday morning announcing today's presale. Figured great I'll grab the family packs for the remaining games (especially UNC) today.

Logged in today for the pre-sale. No family packs in MyCuse account. Call the box office. Busy signal all morning. Checked single games and only seats available for UNC. Got work to do, meetings, etc so finally just got back around to calling the box office. She tells me family packs are only available in person or over the phone (that isn't what their email said) and that Duke and UNC packs are sold out.

So, I'm going to put the Duke tickets I bought up on StubHub tonight (they came in the mail today) to cover the $$ I'm going to have to pay to buy some UNC tickets on StubHub...another wonderful experience with the Carrier Dome box office...

That's strange information about the family packs. They did not tell me that over the phone last week. And you can buy family packs online for football right now. I have not seen basketball family packs being offered yet and I assumed they would go on sale tomorrow. The only information on their website is that they go on-sale in October. I think a bunch of people will be upset if they don't see them online in the morning.

You can still get tickets with alumni presale if you want to sit in the far corner. PM me if you need help.

Why would anyone want to sit in a far corner? might as well watch it on TV and actually see what is happening.

Not sure. It's not something I would want to drive from Canada for but a ton of people are buying them and if I lived in Syracuse I would go to experience it than PVR the game so I could actually see the basketball that was played. Just thought I would help people who were struggling or who struck out previously. They were sold out and now seem to have released some more.

CNY Central has a reporter at the Dome talking to ticket buyers. Obviously the first time ever a game will be sold out before general public tix sale begin.

Can someone explain this to me? How is this possible? Syracuse basketball has 30,000+ season ticket holders? I'm so confused.

Never thought I'd be priced out of the Dome, but it has happened. Not paying $200+ to sit in the upper deck (that's stubhub price).

They're allowing season ticket holders and alums to buy individual game tickets (today) before they go on sale to the general public (tomorrow) -- and those two groups of people have a particular interest in some team named Duke. Imagine the prices if they were to see Duke Silver.

(I personally think they haven't released tickets in Sections 301-303 -- as none of those tickets are available on StubHub.)

Just spoke to the Carrier Dome Box Office. They said they were told just today by management that Family Packs will be sold tomorrow but not for the Duke and NC games because they will be sold out. Absolutely pathetic on behalf of management. I called last week and was told they would go on sale tomorrow and there were no limitations discussed. I called because my family was choosing between getting the family packs and the 6 pack. If they had simply stated that family packs may not be available for those games, I would have been fine with it and purchased the 6 pack. Now we're out of luck for both. There will be a lot of angry families tomorrow.

Was able to buy a group of six in 317 for $138 each after fees on StubHub. And to think people were actually worried that we wouldn't be able to sell out the Dome if the court was moved to the middle.

I was one of them.

This is correct.

As usual, they're leaving large portions of sections unsold. It was the same deal last year for Georgetown - people were stuck buying tickets in the east end zone in October, then seats in the other end became available during the next few months.

but why?

I blame SU for this. By allowing season ticket holders to buy up to 8 single game tickets for the Duke game, they are encouraging scalping (albeit legal) on Stubhub - same thing happened last year for the Georgetown game. How many season ticket holders really need to buy that many?! They should have put a cap on it at 2 or something like that.

Of course they are. They get a cut of the stubhub sales.

ISO with everyone else shut out :( Just told my father that we were shut out for family packs. I tried to get him to spring for 6 packs last week but he wanted to wait for the family packs. Due to the expense, I now have to decide whether to get one individual game ticket for Duke at a high price or buy a few other games. Knowing that this could be the only time Coach K goes up against JB in the Dome, makes me lean towards the Duke game. Let's hope I can get a decent seat for a reasonable buck. Good luck to everyone else.

That is me. I live in NYC so I don't have season tickets. Was planning on going to maybe 2 games in the dome this year. After seeing the above posts and just imagining what the prices will be like on stubhub, looks like i'll be watching this one from my apartment.

If you're used to NYC prices StubHub is fine.

Look at the bright side. There shouldn't be many Duke fans at the carrier dome.

but why?

I don't know how many, but they have to hold back tix that are good or even very good in case people want to buy seasons or even preferred seasons.

As a minimum Duke will have the section behind their bench. Not sure of the ACC rule on ticket allotments.

You'll be able to fit our fans for the game at Duke in a mini-van.

Christ, they actually could have filled the dome with 50K fans for this one.

Never. Big diff between 34k and 50k. There aren't 16k people looking for tix right now.

They'd get it easy.

Don't agree at all. Just look at this thread and the other and the number of people saying they aren't paying for crappy seats. But it doesn't matter cause it didn't get moved.

I passed on tickets. Best available was Section 334, Row I. No thanks.
