Welcome to Great Lakes Awareness Day!
Great Lakes Awareness Day celebrates the Great Lakes and highlights the issues they face, and how the lakes can be preserved. Events for the day have involved organizations such as schools, aquariums, and museums. There is not much information available online about how the day is celebrated or how it came to be.
There are five Great Lakes: Superior, Huron, Michigan, Ontario, and Erie. Together they make up the largest body of freshwater on Earth and stretch 750 miles from east to west. They are located on the border of the United States and Canada and touch the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, New York, and Pennsylvania. It is believed that at one time the Great Lakes were covered by a glacier—it receded towards Canada and left depressions filled with water.

Is Robert Braswell A Must Add For Syracuse Basketball? – Orange Fizz – Free Syracuse Recruiting News (orangefizz.net; Aki)
The Orange’s offseason has certainly not gone according to plan. And plenty of more changes could still be on the way with Tyus Battle’s pending NBA decision and some open scholarships that could be filled. One of the major pieces that could potentially be on the way to Syracuse is Robert Braswell. With the calendar already flipped to May, the South Carolina product is a must for the Orange.
Regardless of Battle’s decision, SU currently has four frontcourt players on scholarship heading into next year. While Jim Boeheim is known for running thin rotations, that’s probably not his intended purpose year to year. It’s also nice to have a security blanket for unplanned events like injuries, departures, etc.
Braswell checks all the Syracuse boxes. He’s long, athletic and can also shoot the ball. His frame is perfect for the defense and has shown the ability to be a prolific shot blocker, despite being just 6-foot-9. While that’s tall for a high school player, the way in which he blocks shots is impressive. He comes out of nowhere and his length does the rest. Now imagine that coming off the bench for Syracuse.

ACC Transfer News (dukebasketballreport.com; King)
No matter how you look at it, college basketball rosters have way more turmoil than they used to.
Freshmen can be one-and-done, as we see at Duke and Kentucky, but other players feel free to move if things aren’t working out the way they think they should. The transfer rate has really gone through the roof.
And of course a few years ago, the NCAA began to allow grad students to transfer and be immediately eligible, which has bailed out dozens of programs since it started.
Clemson picked up a grad student transfer this weekend with Oral Roberts big man (6-10, 230) Javan White relocating to Tigertown. He averaged nearly a double-double this past season and should help shore up Clemson’s inside game.
Clemson also picked up a traditional transfer recently when Asheville’s Johnathan Baehre picked the Tigers. He’s a slim 6-9 sophomore.
And Virginia nabbed Charlotte native and 6-8 Alabama forward Braxton Keys who will return to ACC country after two years with the Crimson Tide who said something very interesting, at least to us: “This entire experience has been extremely humbling. In high school during the recruitment process, the things that impacted my decisions were completely different than they are now.”.

The popular apple orchard is hosting a special mother's day picnic lunch. Guests will pick up their food and take a free wagon ride into the orchard and enjoy lunch among the apple blossoms.
Lunch choices include a cheese and fruit board; roast beef, ham and brie, California club or roasted vegetable sandwiches, or a mixed green salad. All lunches include a beverage (alcohol extra), chips and a pickle.
