Todd Stansbury: Still working on 12th game for Georgia Tech

On his montly podcast, Georgia Tech athletic director Todd Stansbury couldn’t quite extinguish the possibility of scheduling a 12th game. Speaking Friday, he said that options were limited, but that the athletic department was still working on it.

“There still may be some things out there that could work,” Stansbury said. “I would say the probability is low, but we’re going to keep working on it until the probability is zero.”

Stansbury said that the athletic department would need to secure a game probably by the beginning of this week, “where at least we know there’s a good probability we could pull something together.”

Tech has been attempting to schedule a 12th game to replace the game against UCF, which was canceled due to Hurricane Irma.

Tech is 5-5 going into its final scheduled regular-season game against Georgia Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium. A win secures bowl eligibility. If Tech were to lose the game, it would be in limbo regarding its bowl status. The Yellow Jackets could conceivably receive a bowl invitation at 5-6, but only if there weren’t enough bowl-eligible teams, which may not be known until December 2.

Stansbury said that a newly scheduled game would have to be played December 2 and not later.

I hope Syracuse is working to schedule this game with them.
