Welcome to Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day!
The story begins in 1957 in a garage in Hawthorne, NJ with two engineers, Marc Chavannes and Al
Fielding. Marc and Al were trying to make a plastic wallpaper with a paper backing. Surprisingly, this
product didn’t take off. They realized, however, that their invention could be used as a cushioning
packaging material. At that time, only abrasive paper products were used for packaging, and they did
not suffice for cushioning heavy or delicate items. Marc and Al raised $9,000 to fund a developmental
production line. They incorporated Sealed Air Corporation in 1960, and today, Sealed Air is a leading
worldwide manufacturer of numerous protective and specialty packaging materials with annual reve
nues exceeding 3 billion dollars.

Temperatures Warmer Across CNY This Week (PS; Montreuil)
Winter has had a firm grip on Central New York for the last few weeks with bouts of heavy lake effect snow and generally chilly weather. This week, winter should let up a little bit as some warmer air moves in.
A southerly flow has set up across the eastern part of the country for the start of the week, with high pressure along the east coast and low pressure over the Plains. These southerly winds, along with a few breaks of sunshine, should help temperatures on Monday rise into the mid 30s.
No precipitation is expected on Monday, but the low pressure system from the Plains will lift into the Great Lakes by Tuesday. Some light and scattered precipitation will begin to move across Central New York before the sun rises on Tuesday and lingering into Tuesday afternoon.
The vast majority of that precipitation should fall as rain, but temperatures may briefly remain below freezing across the Tug Hill region, leading to a little freezing rain. This should quickly turn to rain as temperatures push into the 40s on Tuesday afternoon. This will be the first day over 40 degrees since January 10th.
Cooler air will work back in behind Tuesday's weak storm system, leading to a brief period of lake effect snow on Wednesday. Initially, the snow will set up east of Lake Ontario, with several inches possible across the Tug Hill.
