Based on yesterday's game, do we need to recruit a new K to replace Krautman after he graduates this year? This was a perfect game to get a look at Norton and get an idea

Just wondering...could Krautman redshirt this year if he never plays again since it's an injury?

Can someone explain to me why nearly every program in country has a kicker that can kick it 7 yrds deep in end zone and we don't have one (and have not had one since Olindo mare)

It did not hurt us yesterday, but it will as competition ramps up.

i see a bunch of really good teams struggle with kickers but few have had several solid NFL guys like us. i think many schools have walkon kickers and thats going to be a major issue with us finding solid ones.

On a touchback, the ball comes out to the 25 now.

Against some teams, you may want to kick it just shy of the goal line, so they have to return it. You have an opportinity to pin the other team back inside the 20.

Norton can put it into the endzone if he wants to, but the staff doesn't want that to happen when they feel the team isn't a threat to return one

We're the only BCS team that plays in a Dome. That would guarantee us elite kickers and punters I'd think, but for whatever reason it doesn't.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we're trying to pin them inside the default 25 yard line.

This. I got the sense it was intentional. Norton had a lot of height on his kickoffs. Last year, touchbacks were pretty routine. Kid really shored-up a part of special teams that had been an issue for years.

This of course doesnt speak to the bigger issue - fields goals and extra points.
