Fort Drum soldiers struck by lightning tonite...

You'd be amazed just how often that occurs with military training. I still remember a time at Bragg where a platoon of 20+ were struck about mid August on a humid NC night. A colleague and his pregnant wife were affected by the same storms, thankfully in a very minor fashion, especially for his wife. It still scars my eyeballs to see those young infantryman carrying around plastic bags of wet gear while holding closed the posteriors of their hospital gowns.

I can recall some close calls with lighting in ft hood and kuwait of all places. Not to mention a nasty tornado that touched down while training in hood.

The Sandhills of NC is the second worst lightning strike area in the country behind Tampa.
