One of the more surprising tweets I saw yesterday….

Everything is setting itself up. Fran has that infectious energy that is not only spreading through the community, but he’s a viral quote machine for national media. The way he manages the program star alumni want to come back and be part of something. No more hiding the team away from december-July hoping for some fluke advantage that will never come. No more hiding players and even coaches from the media. This is exactly what we all, or at least most of us, wanted. We now have as much, if not more access than we ever had before. No more playing coy with injuries. Most importantly, no more playing scared.!What do you think works better? Trusting the coaches and players enough to empower them to have the confidence to talk to the media, or hiding them away?

Getting carried away a little bit, but this sort of reminds me when a little known WR coach took over Clemson. It took him a few years to get the talent where it needed to be to compete consistently at the upper level, and then he had multiple viral moments the year they exploded like (BYOG: BringYour Own Guts) and later in the same speech “Rain, sleet, or snow, Tiger nation they’re gonna show”. It might have been the same year he had another: There’s no place id rather be than DEATH VALLEY South Carolina.” Point is Clemson was down for over a decade. Not nearly as bad as us but hovering around .500 until Dabo took over. It all starts with the HC, the culture he instills, and eventually the talent he brings in. We really haven’t had a great HC since Mac.
P overachieved with a severely embarrassing lack of investment, but ultimately underachieved as a HC with the talent he had and some of the games that he lost were head scratchers.

GRob, need i say more.

Marrone, great HC, especially with the lack of investment. He built a culture and had a plan of attack for recruiting no matter how much BS people give him on that front.

Shafer - I knew he was not that man when he did a trick play on a PAT to tie game, but instead had the place holder throw a pass vs. an FCS team. Also, no culture, no recruiting strategy. Remember when we used to mine the midwest for recruits and Florida for 5’11 < DB’s?

Babers - Had an identity to start, but either lost confidence, hunger, or was just a fluke because of a gimmick offense. No culture, no recruiting strategy. We were mining Hawaii at a time for OL and the northern Cali juco scene…..i hoped i had forgot about that, but apparently not.

Moral of the story is I finally think we have the right HC at the helm. Fran was pretty much perfect from a game calling standpoint last season. When is the last time we could say that? I remember being at MetLife for Shafer’s first game vs Penn St and we couldn’t even get a play in on time. Babers was easily the worst game manager i have and probably will ever see. That one season he cost us 3 straight games that we lost by 3 points.

Fran seems to have it all
culture ✅
game mgt ✅
recruiting ✅

He also seems to have the notice of Syracuse fans and college football people. The above tweet shows that. Please one time let’s this be our ticket back to relevancy. Just as I was losing hope it would ever happen again, i’m sucked back in.

I agree I think the lore NIL and revenue the school can create we will see more and more momentum like more elite recruits more elite transfers the more elite talent the better I’m not worried about the coaching . Fran and the STAFF Weill get these kids coached up we still need to keep upgrading facilities for football to increase even more attention from recruits and etc . But I agree this is a huge step and we need to keep it going .

As a parent of college aged kids (3), that is a BIG selling point. I am lucky, my oldest got a good job within a month of graduating. My middle child has a job with BoA in NYC when she graduates in spring 2026. One child left to get working!!!! But, with the SU program, that is what it is all about. Not every kid makes it to the NFL, even a practice squad. So, Fran staying on their academics while they are here and then getting them a job within 60 days, it's huge.

You guys will not like hearing this, but Brown will never be hotter, even if he only wins 5 games. He is already on the radar of schools with deep pockets. I had them at 7 wins tops even with Angeli. If he can get 5 with his backup QB, he will be a hot candidate. It depends what he wants, but if they tank and win 3 games that might be the case scenario for Cuse to at least keep him another year or two. There are young guys in the pipeline, and the 25 and 26 classes look solid to build for the future. This just feels like a lost season, and the metrics are not good. Dino should have taken a job after his 10 win season, instead he could never match that success against schools w deep pockets in this competitive landscape. Maybe Browns dream is to coach at Syracuse, and other posters that are more clued in would know that more than me.

Whether this will end up true or not, this is what Fran said below and he’s been known to be a man of his word.

I really appreciate all the time and analysis the veteran posters have spent contributing to this board over the years. I have been lurking since maybe 2018 on and off, and finally decided to start posting because I felt like I could contribute positivity

.I’m having a great time posting here. Not sure if people have noticed but I can stray towards immature every now and then, which I don’t mean to in a negative fashion but more so that’s kind of my personality. I’m also pretty energetic and really love Syracuse sports like the rest of you.

Anyways, I’m having a great time posting here. I love interacting with other die hard fans, I love to argue my positions etc. there’s isn’t a better place on the internet to discuss Syracuse sports.

(I am drunk, sorry)
