well if injuries hit, such a roster would seriously jeopardize JB's all time record of no losing seasons...gotta have some bodies on the bench besides 9 players...need at least 1 more center and another guard, minimum.

Yeah i know, but hey there was that one year we went to the sweet 16 with Brandon Bayer as our third guard cause lol

We said that last year too. JB finds a way. Most teams are in trouble after 2 injuries

This isn't good.

The five guys listed between forward and center frightens me. Benny and Jesse I have faith in (even Benny is a rook, tho). Cole can shoot. Im sure Jimmy can spot a bit here and there.

Also, the type of fourth guard we would get to come... I mean, maybe there is something there, but I can't imagine it.

We'll have some shooters, but we're looking at contested jumper after contested jumper.

Honestly, I'm hoping JGIII really commits to the PG position over the summer.

Fingers crossed no injuries. Dang. This is rough.
 
Somebody tell Jim just because you only want to play 6, doesnt mean you should only have a roster of 8.

Its like he wants to coach with one arm tied behind his back, leaves his roster with no margin for error.

He complains after the Pitt blowout, I have no other options. Then get options in the off season.

Another issue is this can lead to lack of competitive practices. You dont get better dunking on walk ons. You get better with quality depth that will challenge the starters because those guys on scholarship want to get on the floor, too.
 
At this point it is what it kinda is. Worst case scenario, this is just a 1 year thing and there is a heavy duty reload with the class of 22. Still will root for the team. I just may drink more while watching. :cool:

He would be a Terence Roberts type forward. He would theoretically improve defense and rebounding. Scoring would come from dump downs and offensive rebounds. If he is on the floor with the right guys, he could really help in that role, as well as playing center.
 
Also Frank is still technically here. While it sounds like the tea leaves don't read in our favor, nothing is in stone yet. Sometimes information can change...circumstances can change. Maybe right its one foot out the door but it's possible for that to change.

JBs reputation precedes him. He can tell guys all he wants right now that he’s gonna play 10 guys and 8 guys will get 15+mpg. But until he does it in a game, no one is gonna come here with the roster we have now.

Charlie Moore isn’t gonna come here because he knows Buddy will get 35mpg and Joe will get plenty of time. Now, if this year JB plays all 3 guards 27mpg each, he can use that argument next recruiting season.

Rocket Watts, Fatts Russell, Charlie Moore ...those type of guys want guaranteed starting roles at high major schools - and JB isn’t going to promise a starting spot to anyone

The real worry is we have no one who can create off the bounce for himself or others. Marek hid a lot of those deficiencies last year (when Kadary wasn’t in). If Symir can be that guy he’ll get 20mpg and I think he’ll be happy in that role.

Joe just isn’t a creative passer. Yes he can pass to Buddy off a screen - but Marek/Kadary did a great job of finding cutters last year and Kadary was great at penetration and finding teammates. Joe hasn’t proven he can do either.

our best offense will come from a lot of passing and finding the open shooter. You can’t help off anyone of our perimeter guys, 1-4

Oh I totally agree. We’re not gonna go into the year with 10 scholarship guys. We probably take a mid major grad transfer or 2 for the exact reasons you stated

I have at least some faith that Buddy will be better creating his own shot next year. He also showed a lot of improvement passing off his drives as the year went on though he's definitely not the level of team creator you want as your #1 creator. Seems like we'll be relying more than ever on set plays to try to free guys up for shots and we just have to hope that the team shoots well enough to maintain it's offensive efficiency from last year. As it currently stands, I'd expect the team to be worse than it was a year ago but there is still a path to success.

I mean I figured something would come out by now. BTW, Why do all these guys individually have to announce they are coming back even Chaz Owens announced he was coming back. This transfer portal without sitting out was a bad idea. If not for it these guys would still be here.
