Not at all. What is (I'll use a different word) quite baffling, is the whirlwind romance type remembrance of what he was last year, and the year before that as well. There's a reason the staff brought in 5th year grad transfer Gillon heading into Frank's soph season. Gillon ultimately won the starting PG spot over Frank, as you may recall, to the point many thought he was transferring after that season because of some of the antics he allegedly pulled because of it, along with other shenanigans when hosting recruiting prospects during visits.
The following season we brought in another 5th year transfer in Geno Thorpe, for the same/similar reason Gillon was brought in the year before...huge question mark at the point guard position. Geno was thought of quite highly here based upon his senior year stats at USF, and many felt he would likely start at PG over Frank. Geno had the preseason ankle injury, then not seeing eye to eye with JB and ultimately quitting the team. That left Frank as the only option last year at PG, and JB had really no other options.
We lost 14 games last year. We have lost 12 to date, and by season's end, we will have 14 losses again. There are practically the same exact parallel's to our losses this season to last season's...and it mostly stems from the same offensive deficiencies at the PG spot. In the games we lost last year, our offense was putrid. The same standing in place dribbling for 15 seconds or more, east to west vs. north/south movement, picking up the dribble and being stuck precariously because of it. The inability to create off the bounce, getting penetration, etc. to tax the D, and open up things for other players, etc. This was quite evident and really exacerbated when teams played aggressive/hounding ball pressure D. Go back and revisit those losses, even those game threads or other post game related threads relative to our offensive struggles.
You'll find many of the same offensive issues we sustained in those losses last year, consistent/cloning our losses this season. For the most part our D last year was solid, as has been the case this year. If you don't agree, that's fine. I ask you this though, what do you think caused or was the main contributor to our 14 losses last year? You can claim/state the obvious that we simply missed shots or didn't make enough to win, but that was just the symptoms of a much larger underlining issue.
