Fran's Holiday Bowl Press Conference | Wash St

Well I dare say that anyone who opts out of this bowl game is going to be made to feel like crap by coach.
He is going to be sure to let them know he let the team down, the university down and the fans down.
I would frankly be shocked if they are even on the bowl trip after this response.
Coach is focused on whats best for the S.
GOOD! And I love him for it. I was accused of being "selfish" for this very same mentality the last few years on here. Fran is old school and it's glorious.

Well, this is either Marcellus Barnes or Brady Denaburg. They are the only transfers as everyone seems to be fine with Sparrow.
We counted on Brady for our kickoffs so I could understand if coach was pissed about this if no one told him.
After going through all that stuff about weed and being a snake, etc., Brown specifically went back and said he wasn't talking about Barnes, saying Barnes was a class act and did everything right.

I have thought in the bac k of my mind that our two DL that were “out for the season” weren’t injured.

I wonder if they’re portal bound.

Certainly sounds like some people are being told to leave.

IDK. There were 17 scholarship offensive lineman and I'm not sure ECruz played again after giving up a sack midseason. He'd be a primary candidate. I think every other non-freshman OL played except maybe Codie Hornsby??

Travion Mack was on the depth chart and played spot duty.

I can see true freshman transferring because of the culture shock.

DL - Joseph Edwards seems like a candidate to me and the JUCO they brought in didn't get any snaps. Michael Nwokocha. Didn't hear a peep why he didn't play. Interior DLine everyone else played except the true freshman Xavier Miles. Wison didn't make it back from injury. Not sure about the DEnds, I think everyone made it back except for Jobity ?

Easy to play with other people’s $. Any 22 year old who’s got a chance to be drafted, even if there’s a 5% chance of being hurt, he’s supposed to risk millions or tens of millions of dollars to appease fans. Please. Ridiculous. We don’t judge any other professions in this same way.

Qdawgg you know I like you, one of my favorite posters.

But we couldn't disagree more with this. Fans should want the players to play, it's what fans do. Can we drop the narrative that bowl games are ticking time bombs for injuries.. how often has that even happened to would have been NFL draft picks?

ECruz seems like he is all in, plus the Tailgate is named after him ;)

I have no idea of Butt's family situation with money. Others might be not be ok with losing this money he admits he lost.

if thats the case, why play any games at all. Once you know you are on the draft board, just shut down mid season.
I don't want that kind of selfish, yes selfish, player on my team.
If the game has any kind of meaning, and I don't mean lower tier bowls like the Fenway and Detroit bowls and awful Boca Raton bowl, the players have the responsibility to play the game.
Maybe that makes me old school but I am 100% with Fran on this.
And I am glad he said it so plainly.
