Fran's post bowl game team meeting ..

Yeah the game was “meaningless” (so I’m told). Yeah we had a few crazy weeks with everything going on inside the program. Yeah we were missing key players. Yeah we were missing key coaches.

That will go down in the books as a 45-0 L. Last night was pathetic, period. I’m perfectly calm about it, but it was pathetic. There won’t be an asterisk on it just because of the circumstances, that is reality.
As much as I told myself it meant little to nothing, I didn't sleep, or wake up well after that showing.
Embarrassed is not the word- more like mortified.

that makes sense why Matt and Adam thought it was Marlowe. FWIW, I don't know much about playing the secondary but I have a good friend who was a DB at Cornell and is a Cuse fan and he says Simmons stinks.
Yeah I have a buddy who was a corner in college and he said we don't have a next level secondary beyond Clark

The game absolutely meant something.

As memorable a loss as VT, BC, MD, etc.

This stuff matters, just like the big wins matter. Nothing is throwaway..

Anyone who somehow quit or didn't care shouldn't be encouraged to return. Anyone who gave everything should be welcomed back.

Hopefully nobody like LeQuint or Villari got hurt.

It matters.

We have 24 coming in now and probably should add 30 + to that. There really aren't more then 30 players who can play at this level on the team.
.

Our biggest issue has been depth, once the guys got banged up and injured we have/had a huge drop off to the second string and beyond.

We aren’t the Georgias and Michigans with loads of 4 and 5 star kids waiting in the wings.

This is one of many issues that Fran needs to develop is quality depth.

Last night was pathetic but let’s be honest we managed to win 2 games bringing knives to gun fights.

Nunzio being a coward and not letting Davis sling it is a problem especially if he’s new QB coach so it’s a serious concern. Unless Davis is that bad and worse than CDRW in which case peace out get the scholarship back.
Beck wouldn't let Davis "sling it" for 3 games, either. Let Shrader, who barely had use of his arms, though. Weird.

It should be. Few guys that you can count on one maybe two hands including obviously some injured players.

There is room on a two deep because depth is obviously important. But outside the key guys which we all know it is bleak in terms of talent, thankfully that is changing by the day with the new regime.

I'm not a roster guru like Go and some others, but can easily get to 20 guys. This team didn't suck. Had bad injuries, depth issues and some coaching no - shows.

I thought the wildcat was only effective against the 1st team we used it against, but maybe my memory is faulty. It seems our other QB was halfway decent & if given the reigns early & developed fully, maybe the outcome improves. Who knows?

If Fran never has to settle for 2 stars, I think we will be OK. We'll see.

Garrett Shrader played in the ACC games we won with the wildcat.

It’s almost like they’ve watched him in practice, and knew what his capabilities and limitations were?

nah.
If he's not ready, yet? He's not ready. Completely normal... Depending on how much work you did with your 3's all year. If it was little, to none, you'll have just a wee bit of drop off...lol

Any post game conversion should probably start with how does Lequint Allen manage 2 yards on 20 carries. We need to pound the portal for upperclassmen offensive linemen.

The same exact way (with Shrader at QB and performing back flips during live action mind you) as in the VPI game where we had 25 rushing attempts for 0 net yards.

L

Last night was not the night to defend Nunz
You can criticize his interim head coach program and game management but to criticize him because he didn’t evaluate Braden Davis to be a competent QB is idiotic. Sorry but that’s what it is. And him triaging leading the program as an interim doesn’t have a lot of bearing on his ability to be a QB coach and recruit. He won’t be calling plays or managing the program next season.

It was Simmons. Marlowe was the one who got in the ref’s face and had to be warned to back off.
Thank god Simmons is finally gone. I mean, I’m not even going to comment on him anymore because I don’t want to go there lol.

Yep - and that’s one of the major flaws of the Dino era - seriously imbalanced rosters and a consistent lack of depth due to annual recruiting misses.

this blowout may actually work to fran brown's favor. it shows the program he was handed and there's nowhere to go but up . also let's give alex golesh some credit for the job he did turning around USF his first season. they went 4-29 last three seasons before he took over. and their QB is only 19. future looks bright.
