Freeman was never expected to be here for more than a year. Remember that podcast with Choppa and dry rub? Alot of that podcast featuring Donnie, Choppa was stressing how Donnie was a 1 year player.
Pretty sure that podcast was shut down after that one and that had alot to do with it. Also pretty sure all the podcasts they recorded are still available to listen to...except that one.

The issue is and has been talent evaluation, especially regarding the portal.

I don't think Red is very good. He has been around and heavily involved with the decisions of how things are ran and who is recruited throughout the decline of the program.

Spending $800k for Lampkin was a waste of tight resources. No one else was going to pay him that.

We whiffed on guards because we didn't have the funds to keep pace. I'd rather pay leffew what he wanted than Lampkin.

Need a big? Find someone from lower level with size and could have gotten the kid from Colgate that went to Gonzaga to help guard play.

We just didn't prioritize nor negotiate appropriately, and our evaluation and roster development and management has been trans for a decade now.

If you were Freeman and were hoping to win big, play in March, and develop your game to get draft in the first round. Why would you come back to Syracuse? Serious question. Why? You can't have any confidence that those things will happen.

I hope he leaves if he thinks he can better himself. He is very gifted but he is raw. I'd rather spend the money on a proven grade school transfer who can perform next season vs Donnie who is a much better player.

This is completely backwards.

The portal is an extremely risky proposition. You need the talent you want to be there and it has to want you back, and this all happens on a very, very compressed timeline that lends itself well to NIL valuations inflating.
