From JBs call-in Show: Scoop starts because best point guard...

the bigger issue is that who is the 4th guard if Dion leaves.

Mookie . . . he will have more length and experience than anyone

if he is here, that is. Mookie is a junior athletically, but a senior academically. He could graduate this year and move on, there is no reason for him to return.

I am curious to see if he is honored on Senior Day.

Dion is best scorer...and Triche is...well read for yourself since a quote from JB:

JB: “Scoop’s starting because he’s our best point guard. Dion is our best scoring guard. Brandon can be more of a point guard next year.”

Now I am somewhat confused...if Scoop is best point guard, Dion is best scoring guard...then why is Brandon starting...or more importantly, what does it mean when JB says "Brandon can be more of a point guard next year"?????? What does that make MCW...???

I am a 'Cuse fan overall and a BT fan too...we know this...but can someone explain the logic of what I am missing here...does JB expect Waiters back next year as the 2-guard...so Brandon moves to PG...or is BT playing a combination of PG and 2-G next year if Waiters isnt here so when MCW is PG BT is 2-G and when Cooney is 2-G BT is PG?????? Help!
get over it, this is getting old

Could it be possible...MOOKIE??????? That would be pretty dang cool. I wouldn't mind him getting 5-7 meaningful minutes a game. Sure would be a feel good story.

EDIT: Moqui you beat me to it!

Im pretty sure JB doesnt allow players to participate in senior day unless they have completed all of their years of eligibility. Wes Johnson was a senior but had another year left and wasnt part of senior day. Scoop is a grad student right now and didnt participate in senior day last year. I doubt mookie will participate this year.

I see Cooney as 'instant offense' off the bench.

As do I. While you want that range out there for a longer amount of time to keep the defense honest on a regular basis, the defense of BT and MCW more than make up for it. Plus, kid will still get 20 minutes to bomb away I think.

If Mookie comes back he will get a real shot to earn meaningful minutes. A more mature Mookie could be is better than what we have seen.

JB likes his seniors and experienced players running his team and I can see BT playing that role next year with such young guards coming into the mix. That's not to say that BT will get the most minutes, but its difficult to replace all that experience BT has. I was really impressed with BT's performance the last few games and showed really good ball handling skills, although I felt like he regressed in the last game (hand injury bothering him too much?).

I don't think there is anything to worry about here. I would love to see Waiter's back to lead the team next year, but like a lot of you posters, I just don't see it if Dion keeps playing like he is right now. Fab, on the other hand, definitely needs another year. He has already shown he has the potential to be a post threat, he is just so much quicker and has better anticipation ... and even has a nice jumper - I love it when he hits those!

I'm not as confident as many of you that Fab will stay for another year. He may need to become more skilled, but he has shown the potential that the NBA loves and his heighth won't shrink. This week alone, the NBA saw two of its big men go down for a good part of the season. They never lose their thirst for big men.

I'm not saying you're wrong, since there's no doubt that Fab is regarded as a real prospect and he might make the leap.

But despite his huge improvement, I don't think he could even play one productive minute in the NBA at this level. Fab's missing dunkable lay-ups left and right and he's a poor defensive rebounder. Even with decent improvement in the next ten months, I don't think he'd see court time for anyone.

Not saying Fab wouldn't be drafted as a project (I imagine he would), but it'd be pretty crazy for him to jump after this year.

Fab stays, dion goes. Fab still needs alot of work. The media hype is starting big time for dion, and its only gonna get worse. Ill be shocked if hes back.

I think you are right especially after hearing JB remark that Dion isn't going to get a lot better.
