FSU Dumpster Thread

Yup! That should fix Norvell's coaching abilities. Surtain may have deserved the termination but Norvell and Alford are the real problems with FSU and the football team.
You know people are saying the same about Fran's coaching changes

Today's rumor on Ped St.:

They will go with an interim coach for the 2026 season, then come out firing all guns to get the best available coach for the following year.
The rumor that I have been seeing is that they are hiring Matt Campbell from Iowa State FWIW.

Well aware of your point. However, Norvell would have been fired mid-season, if FSU had any money. HCFB is not under the same scrutiny. Norvell has been an HC for several years and at two schools. HCFB just finished his 2nd season as an HC. Further, FSU's talent warranted 8 wins alone. Everyone knew this was a rebuilding year following last fall and McCord, made worse once Angelli went down with an injury. Some significant differences, you are free to disagree, but the above facts are established.

When will the debt matter? A business would eventually go bandrupt and close. At what point does athletic department debt prevent them from operating?

That's the question yet to be answered by anyone
State agencies must generally live within their budget. However, state universities have far exceeded their budget repeatedly when it involves the athletics department.

I would imagine the populace and opposing in-state universities will drive the issue faster than non-state schools.

One would think the U of Florida, UCF and USF would be interested in giving FSU some trouble.

No, they won't, lol. There are many strategic reasons for company's to utilize debt. Now, I can't say why this much debt makes sense for FSU, but it surely doesn't mean they would eventually go bankrupt.

I never said the university would go bankrupt. I said that happens to companies. The perception is universities are immune to debt.

They get 90,000 applications for upgrad each year and it’s 30 bucks per app. Thats 2,700,000 just from applications. The athletic department may be at a deficit but the overall school (the business) is not. They are running one department at a deficit with a large investment in the stadium. It will continue to run at a deficit until they win again. It’s not Rutgers.
