Would be nice, but they're trying to fill the same September 8th spot. We play USC on that date so it won't happen. Too bad.

I don't want to play them but you could possibly make it work with creative scheduling but Sept 8th won't work.

'Cuse should do everything possible to schedule a game with FSU. Papers here in Florida are really upset with WVU...and 'Cuse fans should be too as WVU left 'Cuse in lerch as well as FSU. It would be terriic to play our new brethern a year or two earlier...and I believe we should do everything possible to hit the ACC teams as quick as possible. Not saying we should play FSU on date we have USC...even 'Cuse can't play a double header...but we should find a mutual date and just do it...either we are up for the challenge or not...but hiding for another year or so is not going to improve the team or gain recruits from the South...and of course, I live in Fl so that just makes it peachy.

We'll have FSU to worry about when we move to the ACC right now I don't think it's wise.

Hope you would enjoy that FSU away loss..you can treat it as our bowl game. I prefer to schedule for success this year.

There are still 2 dates to fill. Unless all 2004 style scheduling options have been exhausted I don't see Syracuse scheduling FSU this year. Technically, until the BE tells its membership to exclude WVU from its schedules starting in 2012, scheduling is in limbo for the 7 football playing members. I suspect this must have been done already, unofficially. It wouldn't surprise me if the BE has asked its membership not to publish its 2012 football schedule until the WVU situation has been resolved.

As a Colts fan I just hope Andrew Luck is more prudent and reserved than his father seems to be.

I'm in the middle on this. I don't know who is or will be available but I wouldn't want to schedule an FSU. But I'm not part of the let's be Rutgers crowd either. I wouldn't be completely surprised either if WVU stayed on our schedule this year as an OOC game.

I would.

WVU's schedule is full. WVU dropped the FSU series to allow for the Big XII's 9-game conference schedule.

This would be an idiotic move if we scheduled FSU, we allready have USC NW and Minn, we sure as hell dont need this team going to Doak Campbell to get absolutely waxed. No way on this game.

They would still need 3 more games. It's not going to be easy to fill 3 more games unless they go all rutgers with their schedule which I don't see WVU as that type of school.

I don't think we should schedule FSU either if we can avoid it, but those games you list were on the schedule with WVU and TCU also. We're trying to replace them not FCS teams.

09/01 - Marshall
09/15 - James Madison (at Landover, MD)
09/22 - Maryland

I started to write almost exactly the same thing. Next season is a one pivotal for the program, and I trust that Gross and the SU braintrust has more sense than to over-schedule.

I also hope they have enough sense to not under-schedule. A home slate that included Stoneybrook, Colgate and Akron will further drop season tickets and attendance. Once people are lost it becomes even more difficult to get them back.

I wouldn't really be that hard. We would have 2 built in Ls, 1 built in W, and 8 (4h/4A) toss up games. The last game would either be Boise on the road or TBD. If we can't go .500 in our toss up games then we don't deserve a Bowl.

There is going to be a drop in season tickets and attendance this year any way you slice it. We learned last year...

1) No matter how good or bad the team is students don't go to Football Games! Even when you offer them FREE tickets its a fight to get them in the game. Especially on Saturday's!
2) After losing 5 straight to end the year last year, many fans have given up (fair or unfair its reality) on SU football. Adding a "quality or top" team to the home schedule won't change that.
3) The ONLY thing that will get "the masses" back in the dome for football is winning, so if SU can get some easy wins early, be a 5-2 (again) or something like last year...then come mid October and November fans will show up.

But the September attendance for home games will be awful, I don't care who SU is playing.

Upset with West Virgina, I wish WV was going with us, I'm glad they have some where to go. They may survive longer than SU.
When things settle out and land with 64 teams of the 120 division Teams, will it be 16 from each of : SEC, BIG TEN, PAC 10 and BIC 12 with the ACC 5th. When schools leave the NCAA will we be left behind?

If that is true, then the point is it will be even further down. You just can't have a Stoneybrook, Colgate, Akron (for examples) in the Dome early in the season and expect to sell any season tixs based on UConn and Pitt coming later. SU has to make a decision on what kind of program they want. SU football does not sell on 1-2 decent home games.

SU can get away with it because they charge so little for season tickets. For $100 or so dollars you can have season tickets. They do those $10 a ticket giveaways for the garbage games. And the 4 for $44 plus whatever bells and whistles they throw in. When you are essentially paying $10 a ticket for a Div IA football ticket, you can't bitch about the quality of opponent. The damage that was done after losing 5 straight last year was so much and so bad that I think you MUST put winning over attendance numbers and ticket sales this year. All people around here want are 6 wins and a bowl game these days, to insure that play the cupcakes, rack up the wins. Build up the program to that low standard for a bit, then worry about taking the leap and playing better quality.

SU playing more top teams and getting their brains bashed in will just push MORE fans away and hurt attendance MORE than playing cupcakes will

Wow, this thread is really sad and shows how bad the culture is at SU. Really? Let's all take on the defeatist attitude and try to do all we can to get the Belk Bowl!!!!! Yes, the Belk Bowl looks sexy to all the recruits out there, especially if we get to paste some MAC school...would FSU be a huge challenge? Yes, but the culture needs to change if the program is going to be successful because putting our tails in between our legs and hiding from teams like FSU does not spark any sort of interest from recruits. By not even trying to play a tough schedule the team already looks weak, and the Big East schedule is ridiculously weak; recruits know that. So the only thing that will look good is by showing some balls and actually taking on a tough OOC. There is more negativity from people on this thread than from Republicans in Congress...I didn't realize SU fans were so soft.

We did give up a home game to play USC on a neutral field. Call it an "su home game" all you want, its a neutral field game. I don't see SU running and hiding from anyone. But reality is SU is a bad (yes bad) football program right now and to play a bunch of Top 5 teams is silly. No good comes from it. Losing by 40 week after week on national TV isn't good! I'm sorry it's just not! It just further reinforces the image of SU being a god awful football program. Sometimes you need to take 2 steps backwards before taking a step forward. There is NOTHING wrong for a bottom tier Div 1A football program like SU scheduling cupcakes.
