Very good question. Right now UK fanbase is in pitchfork mode so I’m gonna lean with BBN. If he comes here( fully expect some will go batshit happy if he does) I just hope people realize this is not the second coming of MCW or SGA. Talented kid but we still need Freeman too or a good plan B that will get it done in the post.

I'd rather have 25 mins of Wilkins & 15 mins of Dual than trying to figure out who gets minutes at the point out of Dual, an out of position Tobiason, and a 5'9" freshman.

I will say if you go out and get Wilkins that’s an offense first move and you then can pivot to a more physical yet maybe not toss the ball into the paint every possession big if we are moving money around should things shift with OF. Maybe puts Folefac (or someone similar )back in the mix for a big body that can operate for short stints and push people around from the PF spot.

If they get off to a rough start again Pope won’t make it out of the non con. They are fed up with him already.

I get the concerns but he was a true freshman who had the ball in his hands just about as much as anybody in the country. The issues are fixable and he would be surrounded by more talent and carry a lighter load here.

If there is a bag to blow I'd rather Gerry do it on a guy with a ton of upside/potential and eligibility like Wilkins.

We have resources a phone call away needed for the right additions/talent. That has never been at question minus those who choose to promote anything positive as unrealistic. Wilkins is extremely thin, makes some shots that despite a good game against UConn won’t be feasible in ACC play and is turnover prone. Clearly that sits on every programs mind that isn’t penciling in an offer to start of who he has met with so far or else he likely would be off the board already I suspect.

Agreed. He had impressive stats for a freshman but the turnovers numbers obviously were not. But he was a tall true freshman PG playing a bunch of minutes. Its a very high likelihood a player improves a great deal from his freshman season. His metrics are going to improve, especially turnovers and shooting FG% and 3PT % etc. Likely defense as well. I think this would be a good add. We need another legitimate option at PG besides Dual. He brings additional scoring which could be a concern and he is still 6'-5" at the point so he has to have fairly good potential defensively as well.

Those are fixable things. We have a weight room and a coaching staff that better be able to coach better shot selection, ball control and decision making.

Economics not my strong suit but if other programs aren't certain on him then his price probably isn't what it was a week ago so the timing seems to make sense. We clearly aren't swinging with the big boys for a proven stud at PG and, as someone more inclined to bet on potential given the roster and state of the program, I am not really seeing a better, realistic option. But running with what we have to play the point right now seems like a disaster waiting to happen, IMO.
