Class of 2024 G Elijah Moore (NY) COMMITTED & SIGNED TO SYRACUSE (1/28/23)

That's why six guards is too many. If Leffew decides on a bigger bag (which is how the delay looks to me, like he's shopping our number), I would prefer another PF, anyway. Ideally, a stretch 4 who is about 6-8 or 6-9, weighs about 240, and can hit 34% from three. Enough to be a threat, and draw opposing big men out of the lane, to create driving lanes. That's the one piece we are still missing, now that we have a pass-first PG.
Did you forget about our 6'9" 220lb All American freshman power forward coming in...? I think if you look around, he has his own thread.

He can shoot the three a little bit too.

EDIT: sorry for the snark, I was trying to be funny, and failing.

I think the problem with finding a guy like you are describing is that he'll need to worry about playing time with Lampkin, McLeod, Freeman and Davis already in the rotation at his position... We'd need a young guy willing to be the fifth guy in a four man rotation, or somebody good enough to drive one or more of them to the bench. Then THAT guy might change his mind about Syracuse.

Yeah, he's ONE GUY. We don't have any others. You need 2 just for practice.

this kid is really starting a movement with the elbow bullseye..He's going to turn a lot if young kids into Syracuse fans
Yeah I like that celebration. He's going to get the Dome rocking when he hits a big one and does that.

I'm hopeful, but will wait and see. I've gotten hype in the past off of these videos (from Moyer, Anslem, Newton, and most recently Justin Taylor etc.) and come D1 play time, the results were not great. Let's remember this kid is not in most respectable top 100 lists. We will be lucky if he "flew under the radar" and comes in with a chip on his shoulder and is able to cash them in. My hope is that he gets a few minutes as a freshman, keeps a level head and sees a pathway to much more minutes as he progresses over his college career. If he comes in as the 200th ranked player and lives in a dream world of playing major minutes and be one or two and done...he gone to the portal, and next man up.

200? He's 50-60th in a couple of the major recruiting services.

My main point is, he is not a top recruit who should expect to automatically slide into a slot and receive major minutes. Starling, Cuffe, Westry were all higher ranked and have college game experience. Carlos is experienced. I don't expect Choppa to get more minutes than these guys and hope that he doesn't come in delusional but put in the work and know that his time will come.

for those that know, is he a good enough athlete for his shot to immediately translate in D1? In the albeit very limited video I’ve seen he seems to be solid in all areas but doesn’t jump off the court to me. Reminds me of JJ a bit in how his career may look.
