Ok, that’s two out of every 200 who can’t shoot. Just improving doesn’t make you a good shooter. Shooters have great touch and shoot a soft shot. You can tell very quickly who has a mechanical and heavy shot. They can improve, but will never become great shooters. Stevie Thompson improved his shooting, but was still a terrible shooter. Scorers and shooters are not the same thing.

The fact that the Carolina schools didn’t recruit him is my biggest fear. He’s a good athlete. I’m not sure if he basketball skills are all there.

I’m not down on him. He does a lot of things well and he’s a clutch, go-to player on his team. But watching both games and highlights, his scoring comes 90% from dunks and layups. In transition, cherry-picking, and some drives, but that’s high school stuff. College teams don’t give up that volume of those types of shots. He’s not a power player, it’s all finesse. Not like a Warrick, though. He doesn’t do it in half court sets and post play. It’s like he’s Durantish, if you took away the jumper.

He has decent form on the jumper—but as noted, in reels, you don’t see percentages/missed shots. He has time to develop and he has good hands. I’m just saying he’ll have to adjust and evolve because the way he scores in HS, it won’t be quite like that in college. Potential is there for something special.

Say what? Johnny Flynn was a 5 star and Hakim warrick and Dnic were both top 30ish in the country, they were definitely seen as potential difference makers coming in.

Flynn was rated a 3 star the day he committed to us. That is a fact. His rating went up later. Wes Johnson was a 2 star. Now, I would rather get higher rated guys than lower rated guys. But it isn't like it is a science.

I will say one thing, it isn't enough to knock our players now. We have to knock our recruits before they even get here. What a great place to play. We really need to step up our fan board game. We need to start knocking the kids that we are recruiting and that are slightly even thinking about going to Syracuse. I can start it up. I go to the Hoop Hall classic every year. This year Anthony and Jordan Smith are playing. I may not be able to put Anthony on proper blast because he might have already committed but Jordan Smith, you are on the clock.

People need to be careful not to elevate players we recruit to an unreal level. I was showing that not everyone has White as a top 10-15 recruit. Everyone wants to feel good by saying he’s a five star player. So was Benny Williams and how did that work out? White is not an elite recruit. He’s a real good “prospect”. No one wants SU to be good more than me. I drive two hours from the Adirondacks all winter long. Is White a potential building block? Yes, but don’t make him out to be someone at Duke’s level. Duke and NC never offered one of the best players in Carolina.

Benny was not a 5 star player. Look it up. That one is a myth here that will not die.

Is Sadiq a perfect player, no. What he is is one of THE BEST defenders in the 2025 class that instantly translates to college. We are not Duke or UNC and will not get the “complete players” because there’s only 5 a year. Benny wasn’t a 5️ on 1 recruiting site. Our last top 50 recruits are Donnie, Judah, JJ, Benny, Brissett, Battle, Malachi, McCullough, Ennis, Roberson, Grant, MCW. 12/13 players were awesome here but no let’s compare our new commits to the ONE who didn’t work out. Theres always something to complain about, if you can’t see what Reds building then….

I think you’re missing several four star recruits that were total flops. Just go back the last 7-8 years of four stars who flopped and transferred out of Syracuse. You picked out Benny in my response. You better check out about ten you missed in your list.

I have no idea. And neither do you. I know some kids hit it with a coach and a fit that that is where they want to go. If your point is that he won't be a All league player from the jump, you are almost for sure right. If it is that he won't be a player that could be a real good player on a real good team, I won't go that far. I don't know.

How exactly do we know whether he was recruited by UNC or Duke? I mean, I am sort of in touch on this stuff and I admit, I have no idea whether they called him, talked to a coach, I just don't know. Will every kid that UNC and Duke get this year be ranked ahead of White?

Are you happy with freeman? We were complaining JB didn’t have us involved with these kids. Red is. White and Kiyan is a great pull. You’re looking at worst case scenario with every player we are signing.

I know Carolina checked him out, but they never offered. I didn‘t see him listed anywhere as a Duke recruit.
