The first part is correct. I won't comment on the second part. Lol. But yeah, Syracuse hadn't been in touch with Alex since watching him on the AAU circuit in July. Whether or not that's the right move, it's what transpired.

I have two completely unverified thoughts.

Red almost had him, but the Constanza family couldn't risk the uncertainty of what proved to be Red's last year. Constanza is going to follow Red now that he is in a stable situation.

or

The same problem with uncertainty, but Constanza loves Syracuse and could be interested in us again now that the inevitable Red firing occurred. GMAC seems to have way more money for Constanza than Red did as well.

A freshman class of Mahmutovič, Moesch and Constanza would be really really good, and not just in the all name team sense.

My guess, if either of my hypothesis is true, that Red is pulling him to Virginia.

Not saying it applies here in terms of us getting involved but I will say this is where being a good coach and having a good staff you get the rubber meets the road part of this. You can still go available HS kids or euro just as much as you can go portal and find a guy like Freeman or at least pursue that option.

If the staff and program as well as donors want to win bad enough there is a solution through multiple doors. I did not get the vibe that Red and team had the same drive and push which given finding money wasn’t easy probably had something to do with it. If MWC programs can find gems year in year out or mid majors in general there’s no reason we can’t with the resources available should the portal underwhelm.

On3 (who Tipton reports for) has him 44th in the class. The hours/day sure has him 39th in consensus rankings.
