Well, here we are the mob and the NBA. College players allowed to gamble on pro sports now. How long until players are perp walked for point shaving after they get in over their heads. Making gambling legal for college athletes will only increase the potential pool for mob targets. No Bueno

Billups, Rozier arrested in gambling investigations

Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups and Heat guard Terry Rozier have been arrested as part of a pair of investigations related to illegal sports betting and rigged poker games backed by the Mafia, authorities announced.

Gambling and sports has been hand in hand forever. Hornung and Karras, CCNY, heck the Mara's and the Rooney family amassed a good part of their fortune either taking or making bets.

Leagues will continue to have to be more diligent but they are never walking away from the gaming money.

In the current news - the Billups thing seems more criminal to me than the Rozier thing. Not sure pro sports is ever going to be able to stop all rogue players (or refs) from throwing the occasional game.

I agree and that's why I think sports gambling should be legal. But I also believe you should have to go to a casino, show your ID, wait in line, and pay at a physical sports book. There will still be gambling addicts and corruption. But by taking away the availability and dopamine hit that comes with phone (not to mention the constant advertising), the number will be a lot lower.

hard to get in over your head gambling online with all the limits though. You bet more than a few type bets the DKs/Fanduels lower your limits. You can easily lose hundreds for sure

But if its entertainment someone still wins maybe I bet the side being fixed and wont even know it.
