Game 5 Depth Chart / Game Notes | Clemson

I absolutely agree they are playing great. Our guys we had behind them really stepped up. No issue there. My concern is if this is a every year thing where we lose 2-5 key cogs in the machine. Will we always be able to keep on replacing that without missing a beat. That is my concern.

It's not sustainable but unfortunately we're going to have to adapt to the new world order. That said, Chestnut and Carter being bench warmers is going to be a cautionary tale in the Syracuse locker room. This will help us.

That's fair. But I don't think I'm going out on a limb when I suggest that this is the deepest team we've had, probably dating back to the Pasqualoni era. We go legitimately 3 deep at most defensive positions. And our OL would have been sunk in recent years with the injuries we've sustained, but we've managed to shrug it off [with reinforcements on the way] and not let it derail the promising start to the season.

Winning and having better talent is the best way to stave off attrition. And being seen as an attractive transfer destination because we're winning / getting to bowls is a way to help replenish losses.

The cycle of winning -- going back to bowl games in back to back seasons, and being positioned for another solid season next year -- is what's going to offset future losses. Keep winning, keep recruiting well, and attrition is less impactful because the roster is stronger, top to bottom [that doesn't imply that some losses won't hurt more than others].

Also seems like our NIL house is now in better order, which will also help.

Everything will evolve. If you can't transfer twice (outside of grad transfers) that could provide us some protection. Our NIL could ramp up to the point where we could keep some kids we want to keep. And, as Phat just mentioned, it's looking possible that Chestnut's and Carter's quick pay day might have lost them the exposure they need to be on a Sunday roster. Maybe they're good with that, but future players may see it as a big risk.

I'm not really worried about it, but I guess some of that is related to there's nothing we can do about it. Except fork over cash to the NIL. I don't see myself caring enough to do that.

Agree... Can't grasp the number of issues right now, just damn issues. Too many years of blah. Had to accept GBay and MN being better organizations and a their periodic success. But now I gotta watch the friggin Lions look great!

Sometimes the world/football gods talk to you directly. Was watching a show Sunday night after football and they had an old school guy in Chicago talking to his new boutique weed guy (via text) about bud options. The weed guy text "how high do you wanna get?" He responded "so high that I can forget how long it's been since the Bears won the SB!"

I just laughed and gave a head nod... That s*** was meant for me!! Don't know when they recorded the show, sure we were catching up on DVR episodes, but this day, this night, after this game... It was for me to see.

Luckily SU is solid this year so far and fun to watch. That hasn’t always been the case. As you know, in the past it’s been Saturday and Sunday of watching a terrible oline, a QB who should be 2nd string at best, and an offensive plan that nobody understands. Almost two decades of Saturdays and Sundays being crappy.

And it doesn't need to be life changing NIL money that helps to keep kids. I'm not naive enough to think the modest deals we have done with 26 student athletes as part of the SyraCRUZ Tailgate NIL initiative will stop a player from jumping on a more lucrative NIL environment at another school, but I will say that it will make it a tougher decision that choosing the highest bidder. I have heard that first hand in how appreciative the players we have worked with are of our support whether it's a $250 video guest appearance, a $500 tailgate appearance fee, a $2000 - $2500 transaction to be a secondary co-host or the $5000 annually we have offered to Enrique the past two years.
At the risk of being immodest, I don't think there is a better way to show grass roots support from Orange Nation than what we have done the past 15 months.

Oh, and we are open for donations to help us move forward and sustain in 2024. Merchandise purchases (see our Clemson week special), Floyd Little jersey raffle and straight donations will ensure our project survives into next year and beyond.

Jones out is a big development. What's the over/under on the total catches we see from Gill and Long on Saturday? 3?

As is often the case... time for the WRs to step up!
They caught 2.
