Parrish was on the right track, but it is not the lack of a superstar that is a problem, it is the lack of a low post option. All of JB's best teams - every team that has made it past the Sweet 16 - has had a low post scorer to go to in the grind it out possessions that come with increasing frequency in each round of the NCAAT. 1987 and 89 had Rony; 1996 had Otis; 2003 had Melo. I will always believe that 2010 would have made it past Butler if Arinze had been available. For all the weapons that this year's squad has available, a consistent low post option is glaringly absent. That is why the half court offense is so ordinary.Parrish did a good job there. Can't disagree with anything per se. He feels we deserve #1 right now which is correct but his opinion is that we won't win the NCAA's which is OK because it is his opinion even if I disagree or others. He gave us a lot of kudo's and just feels like we don't have that 1 superstar most teams that win it all have. While we have a lot of players playing very good and some playing great, do we really have a Carmelo? A guy that can carry the team on his back all by himself when needed? A guy that can score inside and outside and rack up the rebounds? A guy that commands so much attention from the other team it automatically makes everyone better around him? Not sure we do and that is why Carmelo was an Olympian and the 3rd pick in the draft after 1 season. We're a great team this year but surely not a lock for anything and that was Parrish's point I think.
Maybe we should have a seperate board for lonely singles who want to find like minded Orange partners.Yes sir. Who would of thought love was possible at syracusefan : )

100% agree, said to the wife as soon as he went down and I heard him scream, "Well there goes the national championship" no doubt in my mind with AO we were the best team in the nation. They just had the right stuff when healthy. Since 1987, if all the chips fell into place JB would have three national championships under his belt, one more than Robert Montgomery Knight!Agree with that too. While Forth wasn't a scorer, Hak and Melo did a lot of damage inside. We don't get that right now from our centers or PF's. CJ a little but not like Hak and Melo did or others in previous years. And I agree, I still maintain to this day if AO had been healthy, I think we win it all and definitely beat Butler.
It sure would've avoided a lot of fights in the TexanMark Household LOLMaybe we should have a seperate board for lonely singles who want to find like minded Orange partners.
CJ is an interior scorer, but he isn't a low post option. Maybe he will surprise me in the last half of the regular season, but I don't think Melo will develop that portion of his game until next year. I think James could be a very good weapon at the high post, but he won't get the opportunity - JB is going to give every minute in close games to Joseph and live or die with a perimeter offense.Agree with that too. That is not necessarily true. IF (big if) Dion continues to excell and Melo's continues to progress, then SU's ceiling is pretty high too.Hard to argue. OSU and UNC's ceilings do seem higher than ours.

UNC and OSU can throw the ball into the post...and can also count on a pretty good perimeter offense as well. I like that combination better come tournament time than us relying on getting run outs and hoping we continue to hit our jump shots. Just one man's opinion. I still think we are very good, but if we run into a Wisconsin or team that slows it down on us, we might get into a dog fight if we go cold from the perimeter. We have no option on the block and a smart defensive team is not going to let us run and gun.
