Apparently you never listened to HCFB explanation of that and I did not say I would do that as a tactic. I am talking about a specific action taken by an assistant coach during the last game. If you think that was ok, you are entitled to your viewpoint .
Sorry I forgot to type in hieroglyphics to convey my ancient sarcasm. I was joking about it but since you brought it up, is it okay? Absolutely 100%. The coaches are getting paid a lot of money to teach these kids who aren't really kids anymore. Most of them probably make more playing a sport than I do in a year. So yeah it is perfectly fine for a coach to yell at a player who everyone can agree was not performing as expected. Was it a good look for the school/team on TV? Most people wouldn't care, most expect a coach to yell at a player. Most of us are old enough to have not lived in the participation trophy era, and understand that passion is a part of the game. If the kid wasn't getting paid NIL it might be a bit different but even still the kid is getting free school, books, room, etc just to play a sport. And with prices these days that alone comes close to my annual salary. If they don't want to be yelled at from the coaches, they should just quit and go to school because a snowflake will melt in the heat of the real world.

Why do people equate “getting paid” with getting “yelled at”? I’m sure there are people on here who have been paid well who wouldn’t have liked or wouldn’t have responded positively to being abused by their bosses for making a mistake. Why is it okay in the context of a football player? Because it’s “old school”? That’s silly. Old school doesn’t equal good. In fact, in most aspects of life is equals outdated and less effective than newer and better methods.

Here’s the deal, Ricky isn’t very good. People with analytical thought knew that from the start. Too bad we lost Angeli. I’m not sure Carney is going to be much better, at least not one month into his freshman season. But, in the meantime, there’s no evidence abusing kids will make them better.

It’s on Fran for not having a competent backup, although I give him a lot of credit for bringing Angeli in. it’s not Fran’s fault he got hurt.
Why? Because part of sports is passion. Both as a player and as a coach. Momentum is a real thing. You don't think the kids get yelled at in practice? You think just because they are on TV it gives a bad look? Or do you think in practice they just pet their heads and say its okay you will do better next time? You can't say it is okay in practice but not okay in a game just because there are more eyeballs.

Carney came here in January.

I am a bit worried about our QB recruiting. We needed to get a HS QB who could play this year knowing we only had Williams coming back (unless they thought Williams was good enough to play some this year). So did they fail on everyone they tried for? Did they think Carney was that guy and got it wrong? Because if Carney is that guy then he should be playing.

The current HS recruiting looks to be the same too. Why the last two years are we involved with guys outside the Top 75? That isn't good enough. Even if you are getting QB1 in the portal, the backup is likely to be needed at some point.

Which might be why they are all in on Collins. They know that we have no QB2 for 2026 and hope that they can fix him enough that he can sufficiently backup Angeli.
No inside information but I posted this in another thread that I'm convinced the staff knew Angeli was going to be available and that they had a good chance of landing him.

Being yelled at doesn’t make you a better player. That’s old school knucklehead football. You certainly assume a lot about people in your retort.
Honestly, if you were new at your job would you truly enjoy being yelled at by your supervisor?

Collins is too laid back. He's a good kid but he lacks leadership qualities, lacks fire. From what I've seen he needs a fire lite under his arse.
I like that the coach laid into him.
I want to see and I’m sure the coaches are trying to bring out that dawg in him. I felt like we did start to see it a little bit in the second half with some of the QB runs. He’s got plenty of naysayers now, take that and run with it. Prove us wrong.
