General Consensus Now: Syracuse Not Very Good

The part you left out was, he said, (paraphrasing) "They do a great job of tracking the ball throughout the possession, but once the shot goes up, the players in the zone need to not watch the shot and find a man to box out."

He added that this was easier said than done, but something Syracuse must accomplish if they wanna win the title.

He wasn't downplaying the zone in an of itself, just the players' collective attitude towards rebounding which, based on the stats and his analysis, has been quite poor of late.

Seriously, you're gonna tell me that you've been pleased with the rebounding of late (save for the SJU game) ??

I could grab more boards than KJO and I'm 6 feet tall. As good a scorer as he is, the guy hasn't boxed out since middle school.

But great job in feeling slighted... I commend you in your being offended by actual facts.

Can you please clarify where I said I was feeling slighted, please? Or even where I gave any kind of validation for or against any of the comments I referenced? Thanks in advance.

Dykes is a Big East hater every year. He especially hates teams that play zone (ie: sissy ball). He is a well known UK homer. His ignorant comments just confirm it. I'm surprised he's still on...I thought he'd have a heart attack when UConn beat UK in the FF last year.

Reminded me of the USC comments years ago how they could beat the Panthers (or whoever the worst team in the NFL was)...

lol at thinking these guys care who wins what. They are there to make comments that get people talking and watching. Stirring up the SU or UCONN fanbase is good for tv. There are about 7 programs that get discussed with regard to cbb.

I think it's pretty straight forward...

Are we as good as Kentucky? No
Could we beat Kentucky in a 7 game series? No
Could we beat Kentucky in a 1 game scenario? Yes
Does our team have significant flaws despite our very strong season so far (e.g. lack of a low-post scoring threat, terrible rebounding numbers, difficulty attacking a zone defense, offensive limitations when we can't get into transition)? Yes
Can this team win a national title? Yes
Please...no more posts.
This board can't handle common sense.
Nice job laying it out very simply.

It is shocking, though, how awful we are at rebounding and in attacking the same zone that we play every day in practice.
If Boeheim is the master of the 2-3, how come he can't teach the team how to beat it?

Your title for this thread, "General Consensus Now: Syracuse Not Very Good" seemed to be begging for the typical "whoa is me" and "everyone hates Cuse" responses this board excels at producing.

I may have read too much into it... but you did seem to go in that direction with your post - listing off media remarks (out of context, mind you) that criticized the Orange.

That said, sorry if I misread your intention.

I was just pointing out the surprising reax to a Top 11 rivalry win. Nothing more.
