Georgetown - ha ha ha

Interesting, where all of the "original" or close to original Big East members find themselves. Only Villanova, coming off of a National Championship and looking at another 1 or 2 seed, appears to be in a clear good place with regard to on court performance. Seton Hall and Providence had decent seasons for them and are probably going to get bids. Syracuse had a truly mediocre season and finds itself in a less than certain position with regard to the tournament.

Syracuse, Pitt and BC at least appear to have their financial ducks in order with places in the ACC, but it remains to be seen how SU and Pitt's basketball programs will be impacted long term by having to compete in the ACC where the talent pool is pretty damn deep. We've already seen that the ACC pool is too deep for BC.

BC (9-22) (2-16)
Georgetown (14-17) (5-13)
UConn (14-16) (9-9)
Pittsburgh (15-16) (4-14)
Providence (20-11) (10-8)
St. John's (13-18) (7-11)
Syracuse (18-13) (10-8)
Seton Hall (20-10) (10-8)
Villanova (28-3) (15-3)

The conference realignment has really changed how these teams are viewed. The Big East had a very tight circle of competition. I think playing in the ACC hurt us locally but helped us nationally. I just thought with our FF appearance last season it would translate into better recruiting for 2017. So far 2018 is up in the air. I would hate to get lost in the ACC in few years like Georgetown is in new BE.

It's interesting. Obviously, Nova is in a great spot right now. Providence is probably the strongest the program has been in a long time. Seton Hall, too, is probably in the best position that program has been in since the Carlesimo glory days - they haven't quite hit the high points they did under Amaker, but it feels a lot more sustainable. (And there's no Eddie Griffin.) I do think that what these teams' experience shows is that the New Big East is not an impediment to success. Those teams that are floundering there (Georgetown, most notably) have themselves to blame.

It does seem like the move to the ACC may be a real problem for Pitt. Hard for them to stand out in such a crowded group.

And obviously UConn is the biggest loser right now. It would probably be great for both sides if they gave up on their crappy football and joined the NBE.

Per Georgetown student, former Hoya player Tyler Crawford threatened to 'kick his f*cking ass'. Student says Crawford was sent over by JT2.
