Gerry Staff Predictions…

I hope he hires 5. Would be crazy not to.
Who knows, I could be wrong. Arizona has 6 full time assistants, plus a pretty big support staff. Michigan has 5 assistant coaches but 2 of them have dual roles (one is AC and GM and the other is AC and player development). UConn only has four assistants plus a sizable support staff (including a director of player development and a GM). Maybe one of the Siena guys will move into a dual assistant coach/support staff role like head of player development. I can’t imagine that AO and Ben Lee won’t be joining Gmac.

PSU was bad defensively this season, but top-80 in defensive efficiency 2024 and 2025. I feel like that's about as well as one can do at Penn State. Rhoades's/Brunt's VCU defenses were elite though.
Gerry already had Siena playing good defense. It’s not like the brunt of the defense will be all on Brunt. Unless of course Gerry assigns offensive and defensive coordinators like some coaches these days.

He will be as hands on as he can you can absolute trust that. With that said the immense benefit of who he is bringing in can’t be understated. This is big boy program stuff.

HC: McNamara
Assistant: Brunt
Assistant: Daly
Assistant: Lee (?)
*Assistant: Blackwell (?)
Operations: Corasaniti
*Special Assistant to Head Coach:
GM: OPEN
*Player Development 1: Onuaku (?)
*Player Development 2: OPEN

* Denotes new positions potentially. Can't confirm the player development positions will be added, but every other big-time program has them. And many higher mid-major type programs do too. Also added the 4th assistant based on a prior post.

The fact that this program has been operating with the staffing it has is negligence.

Michigan State has an Associate HC and four assistants. IIRC they have a number of GAs doing a ton of film work.

Gerry will probably do a weekly poll on this forum looking for advice on what he should be doing.👀
I believe it was in his interview with Mike Waters that Joe Girard used the term "Twitter coaches". So here we can add "SUFan coaches".

As much as we want to give GMAC kudos for bringing these guys in as Assistants, let’s not forget the money Syracuse is putting into it. I’m sure these two guys aren’t coming cheap simply because they are recognized as young up and coming coaches who in two or three years will probably head off to be head coaches at their own programs. I’m sure Gerry sold them on a vision and how they can advance their careers with his help. Syracuse ponied up the money for Fran to bring in higher paid Assistants, and I’m sure they’ll do the same for Gerry, regardless of how the staff closes out.

They were late to the party. But, we are seeing growing evidence of the university backing up the rhetoric with $$$.

This is coming from the top with Haynie.

Basketball probably but I don’t think Haynie played a role in Fran getting significantly increased budget for Assistants. I think that was all John.

That’s good that the university is stepping up with $$$. I heard that Bees was considering selling his super yacht to help out. 😜 Now he can just use it to entertain the rest of us as the program starts winning again. 😎
