Whatever way you slice it this is the easiest remaining schedule of any P5 program per ESPN. UNC and FSU are legit top 10, maybe even better programs. Clemson has top 10 talent and easily could be ranked inside the top 10 as well. I think we will see at the end of the season just how tough that 3 game stretch was. How we played was still extremely disappointing, but the drop off in talent will be evident.
Pitt showed up against Louisville, but Narduzzi also kept his guys in pads over their bye week. They made a change at QB, but still are not good. None of these remaining teams are good, but i can definitely see us playing down to our competition because we have shown not to show up against the best in the conference. I do think most of these teams are on par with Purdue, so that gives me hope, but teams like Pitt, BC, and Wake are familiar playing against us, which throws a lot of any advantages out of the window. Still, this is the healthiest we have been coming down the stretch since 2018. I expect Shrader will be a lot better. There is no reason we don’t go 3-2. That will be a bit of a disappointment , but i would take it. 4-1 should be the goal and that would be a totally acceptable season, and a nice bowl game.
