Go Cougs!

Rutgers got lucky. Unbelievable.

Any team with a semblance of a D is going to beat Rutgers, they have no secondary and no WR other then Caroo. WSU's D was just worse.

Agree. Anyone with a good run defense will make them have to have Nova win games. They still go less than .500.

Announcers saying B1G is "On notice." Gimme a break.

Wazzu Qb throws for 500 yds and 5 tds and loses. Leach really earning his $ out in Pullman.

very good win for them. i actually feel good for flood as the fan base has blamed him for everything that has gone wrong and never gave the man a chance. worst immature/ fan base in the country. the only thing that bothers me, is the recruiting angle

I am reminded of a game I attended in 1982(?) - Mac's 2nd year. After suffering through a 4-6-1 record the year before, in the first game of the season, we came out in the Meadowlands and crushed the Girls 31-8 (31-9?). After the game, all the players were chanting 'Brand new - SU!!!'. Season result: 2-9.

I expect a similar outcome for the B1G saviors this year.

Best thing to happen to them is overconfidence after beating a horrific defensive team.

First, I will give credit where credit is due: Longa is a beast.

Second, as expected the Coogs defense is horrid. Can anyone make a tackle? Unfortunately for RU, they will probably not see as bad a D the rest of the year.

I am upping their win total from 2 to 3 wins.

I guess I'm a little surprised how many stayed up until the middle of the night just to watch Rutgers.

It was opening night, I resigned from work yesterday, staying home with kid today, so I made an exception to stay up until half time. It was a good win for them, that being said,

RU will win 4 games this year.

I DVR'd it and watched the second half this morning.

For some including myself, a rutgers loss feels almost as good as a cuse win

Ok, that's just ridiculous. You sound like a Michigan State fan about Michigan. I'm sure that the top 10 wins in MSU program history were Michigan losses to teams other than MSU.

532 yards passing 6 yards rushing LOL

LEACH

they're getting better. when's the last time anyone's ever had fun watching WSU

I'm not sure losing at home to Rutgers is a sign that things are getting better in Pullman. More entertaining to watch, but you could hire a HS coach from Texas to throw 60 times at 1/2 the cost of Leach.

Phil Bobo isn't walking through that door.

i remember a coach losing at home to rutgers in the 2nd year of a total rebuild and it was the most boring hopeless green apple splatter i've ever seen

Exactly...and that coach was making about 1/2 of what Leach is getting. Decisions like that are why so many athletic departments "lose" money.

If they want entertainment in Pullman, hire the guy who runs the A-11 offense then at least they would be unique.

be honest. you don't really care what leach makes. you just don't like what he's doing to your game

Nor should WSU fans -- his decision to throw it three times in a row from the 2 (after they picked-off Nova) was just dumb.

I don't care what Leach makes or how he coaches. Personally I'd rather watch a team play that style instead of punting from the opponents 36. I just laugh at a school like Wazzu paying him that much thinking he'll bring them to an elite level. His stuff isn't that innovative and I doubt he makes it until the end of his deal (2018).

As much as you bag on meat-head coaches, why can't we bag on meat-head AD's who think a guy who "won" in Texas 5 years ago can do the same in Pullman Washington?

"strange" "use" "of" "quotes" "there"

Yeah, poor choice of quotes on my part there. My point is that he's overpaid for what he can accomplish there.

I don't know why people are acting like they'll go 2-10. They've got the same type OOC schedule that they always have, with 3-4 wins near guaranteed!

I think the difference now is that rather than going 4-3 in a mediocre Big East for a soft 8-4 type of season, they'll go 2-6 at best in the Big Ten and end up with a soft 6-6 type of season.

Yep, if you like exciting offense and putrid defense, Leach is your guy.

Side note: Holgerson and Sumlin have similar blind spots, no? That's why I hope McDonald paired with Shafer can be something special.
