good Article talking about how Coach McDonald

As everyone knows i have very little confidence in the cool kid to game plan his way out of a paper bag. Having said that the interview actually gave me some hope for him. He comes off as articulate sure lose the bombs but he seems confident this time not so arrogant as in the past. Seems likeable and i can see how kids would take to him. So i will give him this season to show some maturity and growth as an OC.

Remember when rf told me how articulate this guy is? That was funny. Here's a tip George. Don't say it every other sentence in a newspaper interview

This guy should stop talking

I'll admit, I'm at somewhat of a loss over that article.

But *** it--I still think you're agenda is showing.

How was Priest? Was Halford fronting?

As an individual who drops probably more bombs throughout the course of a day than 95% of people, I certainly know when not to. Did GMC think that they weren't going to be printed? I have no idea. Seems odd, then again if we was averaging 38 points a game people would be in love with the comments.

I 'm not sure what to think about the comment that he scripts plays and then sometimes goes away from it after 5 plays. Does it mean he's willing to adapt, or he doesn't trust his plan?

In keeping with the theme of the day I say *** it, throw away the offense and go flexbone baby. Run, run, run and then TE down the seam.

We can even tap into the students and have DJ Maestro remix this song to "Go Flexbone"

Yeah, it's bizarre. I mean, we'd all be hypocrites if we said we were offended.

But I would imagine that someone at SU is either directly giving, or passing down the chain, a message to George about time and place. Might even preface it with, look, I know you football coaches are a bit of a different breed, but come on...

That said, the whole thing, and this thread, couldn't be more hilarious.

To be fair, McDonald came across MUCH better in that article than he ever does on the Twitter.

**k its and all.

I am sure he's been paid a visit by USEAAD Giansante by now.

BTW, this thread is ***ing awesome.

Well I'll give Joe credit. He doesn't cuss when he talks to the media. But other than that, not sure it's really a good thing that he is giving George the media advice

Steel panther was life altering. Tough act for priest to follow

Sounds like Tom Watson's approach last week.

Coaches say crazy things all the time in interviews and reporters/editors choose to not run it out of respect for the reader.

Clearly: that time has passed. I'm not sure they even have editors anymore.

it speaks to his immaturity at least to the public ---he needs to know the difference. i believe he is a loose cannon with no reigns on him because of his alleged recruiting prowess.---shafer needs to make him accountable , and i am beginning to believe that shafer is to immature to make the tough decisions. sorry to say that as i like the guy, but he appears to function as a member of the band, one of the guys, not as the team and band leader

Aside from the cursing (which I found hilarious), was anyone else completely befuddled by the article (which I didn't find hilarious)? I got to the end and was like "huh?? What was that about??"

It's called having a plan, and then in the middle of the game just picking random plays and hitting the X button.

BS.

It's like most things in life. You script it out, plan for the obvious stuff, then improvise based on what's working and what's not working. Pretty sure that's what every OC/DC does.

Within 5 plays though? Maybe that's normal, but it strikes me as a bit odd, and like I said before, I'm not sure if it's a sign he's willing to adjust, or a sign that he doesn't trust his plan.

I just wish he'd trust the running game when it's working. He went to the pass too often in the 1st half against Maryland when the backs were chewing up yards.

I think the plan with McDonald is simple.

Give him a few more years to stock the roster full of talent and hope his OC skills have caught up with his recruiting skills by then.

If not... Fvck it... Hire a guy a guy that can execute with that talent and let the subsequent wins recruit for themselves.

Problem solved, time to sit back and be entertained by him for a couple more years :noidea:

Really hope we get an NCAA Football 16 next year. The "ask coach" option on offense will be priceless
ask coach really only one answer.png
