"Less" vs. "Fewer"
"Should of"
"Then" vs. "Than"
"There" vs. "Their" vs "They're"

You know it's not a typo when a single post contains 3 or more of those mistakes.
And "yes", it distracts the reader and may cause the poster's message to be lost.

As one of my brothers would say, "don't go on a tie raid over it". But for all in tents that's a mute point.
Tie raid?

/rant Mute point drives me absolutely batsh!t crazy. As does flush out (you don't flush out an idea - you flesh it out, i.e., put meat on its bones). /end rant

Well if you guys would just try and learn something.

It's not try and... If you try to do something AND you do it then you don't need to tell people that you tried. It's try TO do something.

Sorry, I don't usually do this, but I've seen this one about 3 times this weekend:

"lead" is not the past tense of anything. "led" is the past tense of "lead".
The other "lead" (pronounced with a short "e" sound) is the element lead, Pb.

Examples:
When did we take the lead?
We led for the entire game.

I wish the pipes weren't made of lead.

OK? OK. Back to our regularly scheduled program.
You are a looser!

The English language was nonsensical long before the internet. Add in regional dialects and it is a proverbial **** show.

Alumnus- singular male.
Alumna- singular female.
Alumni- plural.

Not alum and not alums.

It's an abbreviation.

It's a shame we're not all using the proper Latin conjugation.
/sarcasm font.

How is alums an abbreviation for alumni? What are you going to do with all that extra time you saved by typing one less letter?
