David Cutcliffe looks to me like a class act all around, and I really enjoy watching his teams play.

I did think SU had a chance yesterday, and I never thought they were out of the game until HCSS made the bad fake punt call. In that situation down one score with the defense playing so well you have to make Duke earn points. I would not risk giving them 3 points. I think you have to make them make a play to go up 2 scores. Anytime a coach makes a mistake like that it's a good opportunity to reflect on what led to that decision and try to be aware of that kind of thinking, mood, or mindset in the future.

SU's defense rattled Duke a little with it's physicality and except for 2 plays kept them off balance pretty much throughout. They even held Duke to a field goal after the failed fake punt. On a couple of 3rd downs where Duke was backed up I would have preferred more pressure rather than dropping and playing zone. I can understand needing to mix it up, but that rarely seems to be successful with this team. On the 2 big Duke plays at a minimum just need to wrap and slow down the offensive player for as long as possible and buy time for help. Reddish was very sold again. The LBs are playing well. I'm going to miss Lynch and Davis. Franklin looks like a really good player. The DLine continues to be solid.

Kimble runs a little like T-Hunt. I thought he threw a few nice balls too. I like Wilson's arm. He took a shot to his ribs, but he showed some toughness when he played on. When your offense is backed up at the goal line and you run the ball on first down the ball carrier has to pick a hole and power run to get the ball away from the goal line. Btw, I think Texas A&M ran the same pitch play backed up at the goal line yesterday that SU ran against Nova, and Auburn came very close to a safety.

This season is no doubt frustrating. The fan reaction is understandable and predictable. Back in 2011 a lot of people were calling for Marrone to be fired, and then a year later when he took the head coaching job with the Bills many of those same people were deeply offended. I'm not saying HCSS will lead this team to a bowl game next season, but I believe he can and I'm going to continue to support him at least for now the same way I supported Marrone throughout. I'm not a fan of pounding the podium. I hope HCSS can learn how to regulate better those emotions during the game and during the presser.

I like SU's chances against Pitt. Go Cuse!!

I prefer busted podiums to flat faced and emotionless Marrone style pressers. Good post.

Great time to sit and reflect on what could/should have been. Let the "no bowl" mentality sink in across the area. Yeah. Great timing. ;)

Tell ya what, TGD better get his people on this early/late bye BS and get that crap fixed. Our injury report is proof that schedule killed us. If that's not grounds to see it never happens again, what else can their be?

Great time for a bye for all of us, especially for those fans who attend every game and who even travel to the away games. This is frustrating.

For the guys playing banged up it's a chance to heal, and maybe some of the guys who are out can return.

The injury report is unusual for sure. Hard to say how much the schedule is a factor.

This is taking nothing away from Duke's great season because Duke is a good team and Duke's coaching staff does a great job, but when I compare Duke's schedule this season to SU's schedule it's obvious that SU's schedule is different on a few levels. A few differences include the OOC schedules, the timing of the byes, and the Coastal versus the Atlantic. I'm going to assume that Duke has played 3 teams coming off of a bye week the way SU has because I don't have time to check that. It's not just comparing SU's schedule this year to Duke. SU's schedule this season compared to a lot of other schools is probably different. If making a bowl game is crucial SU simply needs to schedule differently. A lot of it is out of SU's control, but SU can certainly helps it's own cause in some ways too.
