Greetings from Buffalo...

You don't go to duffs for ambiance. You go there for that 45% tx Pete's /45% franks rh / 10% butter wing sauce. You go because they did it first and they did it right.
I love their wings.

I just like the Gates more.

All the employees at the team hotel are wearing "zebra" shirts. That is literally the only indication (subtle, for sure) I've seen suggesting there is a basketball tourney in town. There were none of the usual "welcome" signs at the hotel or the airport. When I asked my cab driver whether there was much excitement in town about the basketball tournament, he replied: "What basketball tournament? I don't know about any basketball tournament."

I've been attending NCAA games for more than 25 years...in cities ranging from Worcester to NYC. Never have I seen such an apparent lack of interest.
I am surprised. Here in Rochester they did a clip on how was preparing for the tourney. Did say there was not the usual hoopla outside the arena but mentioned something about construction in the area. Also pointed out that there were going to hundreds of "guides" with triangle shaped signs saying "ask me". Rochester had a clip how Jay Wright talked up upstate especially DIII where he got his start. Also he and his wife went to dinner with JB and Julie.

I gotta recommend Gabriel's Gate for any of you visiting Buffalo.

The best wings by far I've had in Buff.

Then you need to still visit Kelly's Korner & 9-11 Tavern.

I dated a girl from Cheektovegas. I think the extent of things to do was that mall by there and Casino Niagara.

Pretty sure these are probably the exact same things that are said about Syracuse...

Except Syracuse has actually won a championship in something.

Duffs is the new Anchor Bar...bunch of tourists that think they are 1 upping the other tourists.

You know what... I was totally thinking Anchor Bar when I wrote this. that's where we always used to go.

I love how each Buffalonian and student, that has visited outside Main St. and Millersport, has there own favorite wing establishment.

My good times have all been on Allen St. , my favorite street in Buffalo.

Lived in the city for the past few years until just moving out to Monterey, CA...I miss Allen St very very much, what I would give for a steak sandwich from The Pink at 3am.

It's shameful but my 3am cravings usually hit home at University hots on Main St.

:bang: spent so much money at that place.

Just once you have to spring for the sandwich at the Pink. I know it seems like the most absurd thing ever to order food in that place but its won the Artvoice award for best Steak Sandwich like 5 times. Think the price changes based on however much money they think they can get from you, but it is absolutely delicious. Went back once on a Sunday at noon to try it again just to make sure.

Their steak sandwich is awesome. My favorite place though in Buffalo is the Sterling Place Tavern.

Not sure that the average person is all that excited about an NCAA basketball championship from 2003...Don't get me wrong, pretty certain that night was the best night of my life, besides one night when I was 15...

Sterling Place is classic, place is so old school. Great burgers if you can manage to get one in under an hour.

Better than getting excited over nothing at all.
