Greg Fahey: New GM

I thought the NBA connection was a way to rationalize Hop getting the job. Have no idea how NBA experience would help. Cap issues are not the same.
Doubt we could offer enough $ to match what he could make elsewhere. He and his family’s blood has probably thinned out in the warmer climates too. 😀

I would argue the connections to overseas and the high school circuit are 10X more important than NBA connections. Even though high school recruits aren't as critical... now it's almost more important to build the relationship while they are in high school so you can get them in the portal once they have a resume and you know their true valuation. From a moneyball perspective, this seems like the perfect background for the role, setting aside the person themselves.

And btw Kline with all of his NBA connections got us what?

I'm not enamored by this at first glance, but I also would want to know how GMac is using the GM role. While I have issues with our roster as of now, I do really like who is on GMac's staff and I would assume that his vision of this role/Fahey's role will be narrow and focused and within the scope this dude can handle.

Now please go get us a high end lead guard. Thank you. Welcome, Greg.

A year in our S&C program and he’ll be everything everyone wants.
This is freaking hilarious. I was thinking he looked a bit like he either has horrible allergies, has a bad case of the sads, or just needs to eat some more fruits and veggies (btw the way - nutritional advice FROM ME is the biggest joke of all) and this comment floored me.

Eagerly awaiting when the next guard target emerges or re emerges

Good luck finding a lead guard that will beat out Dual for the starting job. And I'm for them getting a third guard. But it's not going to be easy for that guard to beat out Dual and Moesch is going to be a tough competition for them as well, that is really only a 4 star vs a 5 star due to height.

I really don’t see Moesch getting much time this year outside of some OOC games.

I don't either, but it doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. And Gerry hit very big on an under the radar recruit that is ready to contribute on a good team year 1. Braden Smith 2.0.

Looks like GMac knew this guy from his days with the City Rocks coaching staff.
Guess we'll be getting guys from the City Rocks again.

You have to be pretty good to get the player of the year award for that league.
I will be shocked if he is not seeing significant playing time by the last month of the season.

He has the abilities to succeed at the level of SU.
The only question in my opinion is can he physically compete.
Based on everything that I have read, this kid would be five star if he was 6-2 as opposed to 6-0.

Thought the new GM was going to have NBA experience ? My friend Scooch and I have more questions than this, but this is #1 at the moment
I don't believe Gerry ever said that. That was the word around the program but I don't think it was Gerry's word. Also, I am hearing some good things about the hire. Of course, it would be odd to hear someone say, this kid is a stiff. He does have experience with NIL. Something Kline didn't have.

when i first saw the hire my first thoughts were "who" "huh". but after some research and watching the videos above, this could be a great hire. has connections in the northeast and the dmv. has international connections. understands nil and looks at it analytically. could be interesting. also, i trust gmac. hes put together a great staff, so i don't think this would be a throw away. he must think it's a great hire.

I mean, you might not be wrong about Ryan Moesch. I was thinking about this yesterday. Braden Smith was a 3-star, 198th ranked prospect who had an immediate impact at Purdue and has become an all-conference player and one of the best PGs in college basketball the past few years.

I wouldn’t bet on it, just because I’m sure there is a million other instances where that doesn’t happen. But we’ve seen it before.
