Gross has to pull the plug on Shafer

I like your post and I also like Hunt. I think you're correct. Hunt has not produced as hoped and expected.

He's gotten pretty good pocket protection and just hasn't produced. I don't see him looking off anybody.

I used to think his passing ability was promising and that he just needed to be more consistent. Now I have a feeling that it is an accuracy problem that might never right itself.

I completely agree with this. One of those series inside the 10 yard line, I remember him looking to the right at a cluster of 2 or 3 receivers in the corner of the end zone, along with about 3 defenders. He only looked in that corner of the end zone, and then just threw it away because it was too much congestion and no open receivers. Did he glance at the middle of the end zone, or the left side before he threw it away? No. His head never swiveled. He just zoned in on that one location and then threw it away when it wasn't there.

We have seen him make some excellent throws, don't forget. He really nailed those first completions each of the last 2 games to start the 2nd half. It's not like he guns in every throw, even when he should demonstrate some touch, as used to be the case with Nassib his first couple years. He has been overthrowing too many balls over the middle, and he doesn't get the ball out on the bubble screens fast enough. Oh, and the receivers are not blocking well enough to give the receiver a chance for separation at the line of scrimmage, or a lane to run into. I like the way Hunt throws the slant. He's hit a few. I am not as enamored of McDonald's calls. They seem too predictable. He'll take a shot down the field once in a while, but the rest of it is so damn obvious what's coming.

I've said it numerous times already, but I will continue to. Who has McDonald brought in that we wouldn't normally get? Not 1 single person. He hasn't even come close, or at least good enough on the recruiting trail to help him survive this debacle. With that Said Shafer isn't going anyway, nor should he...yet. He has to have a chance to make a move to his staff (something he better do when the time comes), and at least get 2-3 years under his belt before you even start to consider that. If we get a new AD however it could be anyone's guess. So for the people hoping Shafer is gone i'd hope for a new AD.

Steve Ishmael and Brisly Estime would not be here without him and are two of the bright spots on offense.

all we needed to see was the completely missed throw to lewis on the first series, hell it might have been the first play of the game. lewis was gone, I mean I think it was lewis my memory is hazy, but the throw wasn't within three yards of him. I knew we were in for a long night right then.

Dowels was going to Oklahoma all the way if they wanted him. He feel into our lap, and is a guy we would get anyways. Robinson is the same type of player we have always got from South Florida. Let's have Alin Edouard make it to campus before we count him. But still, again, he is borderline someone we always got.

What kids have we been pulling from So. FL before he got here? Desir?!

Plus I remember you loving Custis - and he listed McDonald as a huge reason for coming.

I actually watched the press conference and that was flat out embarrassing. I don't care we went 7-6 last year. Shafer is an clown and our team is always either underachieving in these games or we aren't prepared.

The fact we have such a terrible offense in an age where college offense have such huge advantages is sad. Shafer acts like a MAC HC and I never see adjustments. McDonald has no clue. We might not have the best talent in CFB but we are not as bad as we appear on the field.

Dr. Gross the only way you will make a change is if your fanbase demands it. I do not want another year of this garbage. 2009 and 2011 both non-bowl seasons were no where this bad. I can not wait another 2 years for a new staff. Please realize it is not unfair to pull the plug when the incumbent staff is so woefully not worthy of more time and hurts the program long term to give another year to its leader.

Your a clown bro and you show it each time you post. Why don't you go find a new team if its so bad on the hill. It might improve your happiness in life although doubtful.

I have to admit I agree with you here. It's like first game jitters every game. It appears he doesn't have the killer instinct at this point , though he looked like he did last year. Starting the game like that is like getting up on the wrong side of the bed , the whole day is gonna be a struggle.

You are entitled to your opinion I am entitled to my opinion. I give praise when it is warranted and I give criticism when it is warranted. If you want to read sunshine and rainbow posts in every post I recommend you don't read my posts and I won't shed a tear. If you want an echo chamber of pro-SU Kool aid I don't do that.
When I am wrong I am not afraid to admit it but the fact you make it personal shows who you are. My opinion is fair and not something that isn't thought out. If you actually watched Shafer's press conference and didn't see it as Grob 2.0 then you obviously are not reasonable. That press conference gave me the opinion Shafer is not the guy for the job and why wait to make a change till after next year which is what Shafer is likely to get when a change could be made after this year.

If Shafer isn't going to improve keeping him an extra year sets the program back 2-3 yrs as the extra year for Shafer would set the next guy back because he would be changing systems.
How having he opinion Shafer isn't the answer makes you say what you have makes me chuckle as if I actually cared what you think about me guess it would hurt my feelings but sadly I could careless what you think so call me a clown continue reading my posts or don't but bring an actual reason next time when you want to call me a clown.

Bump and oh yeah to the people who disagreed how about them apples.

i disagree with you. I would get rid of gross first and then HCSS. Why put in an AD who obviously can't hire a head FB coach

That would be fine. Lol. My opinion was fair then and the people in this thread should eat some crow.

Easy, counselor. A reasonable case can be made that opinions were premature in early October, but ripe now.

I am okay with people changing their opinions but their are 2 specific posters who went personal at me. That is why I bumped this thread and said how about them apples. I called him G-Rob 2.0 because of that ISIS press
Conference.

Still dumb. His overall record is in line with almost everyone but coach P in his first two years.

Plus it's pointless exercise. We don't fire coaches after two seasons (esp when one was a bowl win, 7-6 season).

I think Gross may be a short timer and the results of the NCAA investigation will be the tipping point. I don't want him within 500 miles of the next FB HC hire.

I give shafer one more year. If we don't get to at least 6 wins next here, he's gone! Bottom line is we are one miraculous drive away from being bowl-less in the past 2 seasons. And it's not like we are lacking the talent.

Do we really have to hope again for 6 wins and that saves him? Our expectations are so low.

I said at least 6. 6 wins would be mediocre but it would get us a bowl game and just enough for shafer to keep his job

Plus, gonna throw this out there - if we get those 6 wins, it's not going to be because we can score and win decisively. It's because we white knuckle our way to late game heroics.

no no no. we can't settle for just enough. plus i look like an idiot i have had 2015 circled as our breakout year for 3 years now. i was hoping for at least 8 (before scheduling like we are Bama)!

maybe we can actually score 18 touchdowns next season!!! baby steps.

I can't believe that people want to give Shafer 1 more year and HOPE we get 6 win...Pathetic if that is what it comes too...

Joke's on you, bro. Bama schedules lighter OOC than we do.

What's the other option? New coach, loss of recruits, 2-3 year rebuilding again?

You ride out next season and see what happens.
