Syracuse is perfect except for the fact that Caligula could run a basketball program that had fewer explosive scandals over the past 5 months.
This was a terrific line. I laughed out loud.

I have always said people saying this is a cop out, you are either a good defender or not, zone or man, they have the same basic defensive principles and drillsPeople think that if you go to Syracuse you will somehow forget to play man to man defense. It's as if you won't play it in 4 years here. Syracuse practices man to man all the time because... well... they play against it! Just because we play zone in games doesn't mean 100% of practice time is spent in zone. The team scrimmages each other every day, playing man to man. Last I checked, there are a lot more practices than games.
Playing devil's advocate, and not discounting Jake's confidence, but after reading his comments post the GTown visit, I wouldn't be surprised if he went there.
I don't have the link but he gushed about the role of the Bigs in JT III's offense, and the whole "Big Man U' schtick that Gtown likes to perpetuate.
Also, let's not discount the role of race in this whole thing. JTII probably sat him down & talked about Ewing and how he was also a West Indian kid from the NE, adjustments he had to make at college, etc. The whole, "I know what your going through coming to an institution like this" angle, probably played VERY well w/ his folks.
I wouldn't totally dismiss GTown's chances here.
Is JTIII really going to sell the Ewing story...what was he 14-15 when Ewing was being recruited to GT?Me either.
JTIII is not the evil person the old man was. The way he got the job there is disgusting, but he's not near as bad as JT Jr.
The JTIII story, the race card and the Big Man history there has to count for something.
Georgetown is still in DC and DC has an awful lot to offer. The difference between M Street and the city of DC and Marshall Street and the Salt City is huge.
Heck, they might even be able to attract some new fans to the half empty pro arena they play in.
All I'll say is that it is no longer 50/50 from what I'm hearing.![]()

Yes the zone hides players deficiencies but it doesn't make you a worse defender
I think you missed my point, because you just proved it with your responseAndy Rautins...great zone defender... way too slow to ever be even a passable m2m defender. Ever watch him play D on team canada?
I would rather he go to Kentucky than Georgetown.
