Harris, Johnson, Johnson, and Howard need to play more

I think we will see the Johnsons work their way on to the field more and more this season. The opportunity is pretty clearly there.

Howard, I don't know. The fast that he is such an athlete makes me want to redshirt him even more so he can refine his game as a football player before he's called on to perform. Plus, in a pressure situation with real stakes on the line, do we really see Babers calling his number ahead of Neal and Strickland? If those guys are healthy, I don't see it. If either goes down, then yeah, Howard will have his number called.

Harris is really intriguing. His TD catch and run looked a lot like a play Ish broke against Florida State when he was a freshman, in that it showed that he could seize the moment. I think his PT (ie playing more or less than the 4 games) depends on how much of our offense has really moved over to these heavy sets. If we're running a lot of 4 and 5 wide, playing Harris makes a ton of sense. If we're not... might be a good idea to preserve the shirt unless we really think he sees game action pretty much from here on out.

Pierre didn't get any snaps...have to wonder if he's the safety net for the RB's in case 1 goes down? If they don't, he gets a nice orangeshirt year.

Howard might be a nice guy to bring in when we try and burn out the clock. If we don't need Strickland or Neal for blocking in those situations, Howard is probably the best player to hit the hole and try and get a few extra yards as a pure rusher.

I remember dino running a lot of heavy sets for the first couple games last year too. Then they disappeared for the most part.

OT: Gabe Moran #88 is a big dude TE?

Howard is Strickland with a burst.

Also sees the holes better and will do much better the more experience he gets. I love Strick coming out of the backfield catching passes/blocking far more than I do as him as a rusher.

Strickland will be the guy we wished we had when our depth was built up properly, so we could put him in the best position - not the greatest need.

Agree...thankful he chose SU but sometimes the timing of when you're on the Hill can be perfect and sometimes not so good. I know he'll help the team win and continue to bust his hump on each play.

I think we need to remember that the most excited we all were when Strickland was on the field was his freshman season too.

Yeah, this is why making a bowl this season is so important.

The upperclassmen have been through a ton to support a program in transition. The VT and Clemson wins they contributed to are great, but a bowl game would be a nice culmination of their effort.

I see Howard having way more explosiveness than Neal or strick. Patient then bam he is through like a rocket. Hate playing freshmen as I have said before unless they start but this kid looks to be a real deal. Not much blocking tape to watch but boy can he go.

Butler's athletic ability isn't in question...his hands are. In fact, I would argue that his raw potential is the only reason the staff hasn't given up on him.

He must be great n practice which leads me to believe that his game time issues are mental...kind of like All Star 2nd baseman Chuck Knoblach throwing to first base.

I am not ready to give up on Butler just yet, I remember when it seemed like Quadri Ismael had stone hands and we all know he ended up great. Also remember when Lemon was called Lemon drop, he turned out pretty good, too.
Butler is without a doubt struggling right now though.

Lemon was called Lemon drop? I thought he had great hands from day 1.

How much was I drinking back then?

I feel the same way. He is one of the best athletes on the team. I think thats why they are being patient with him. They will continue to until Harris or whoever gives them reason not to. Could come sooner or later.

Never heard that one.

I think some of you are making too much out of this game. We saw young players going against a defense worse than our 2nd unit. Staff gets a better evaluation watching scout team film.

Question is how much was said poster drinking back then.
